Have you never considered the similarity between Munch's 'The Scream' and an inflatable doll???

If you really want to, any film could work.

I probably never would have if it weren't for
this song.

I don't like this cover... so far away from the spirit and esthetic of the film...

All the posters are shite. That doesn't justify re-using them.

Here's a
link to a poster with more acceptable colour.

I think it's interesting - I like the posters, and their authentic feel - the design artists wrestled with their representation of Antonioni's films from L:'AVVENTURA through LA NOTTE to L'ECLISSE by default trying to highlight the elusive romantic/passionate moments, but really avoiding the whole point of the films and their ellipsis of such events... The MoC cover and the originating photo are actually from the final scene of the film, and I'm struggling to remember if that shot remains in the complete cut... Whatever way, that's how long to wait to find the two principal characters in anything near to a clinch!...
Perhaps for the first time with DESERTO ROSSO/RED DESERT there was unity of design and film in the posters and publicity reflecting the underlying angst and uncertainty to life, love, environment and existence...

The English ("The Night") poster I posted is by far the best, except the dumbass tagline.
The others seem like they are trying to fool people into thinking the film is sexy, shocking and/or in colour. But the worst is the DVD cover with the garish lipstick and green Martians.
This one is OK:

These are great posters, along with most of the others posted in this thread.

But why is everybody either red, blue or green?

Are you crazy, they're not rubbish but they're certainly not great. I'd be interested to see what the
Academy Cinema poster was like. Many of theirs were very nice.
Here are some examples:
An Autumn Afternoon,
The Red and the White.

Wonderful news, I really can't wait to see this masterpiece restored. And while I love all of the posters, my favorite is the one Eureka went with...very beautiful.

How about this?... Certainly desexualised on account of the dinky bathcap!...
Or even this example of power lifting...
US original lobby cards BTW...

I must say -- I can't recall that shot in "Akasen chitai" anywhere. Must either be a production still or some non-climactic moment. ;~}

I realize that the new one is probably based on original poster art, I much, much prefer the older one.

Criterion has the best cover art for Vampyr, so there you go!

I always hated the original MOC cover, they very wisely constructed this new one that, yes, I love better than even the Criterion! =D>

Criterion's cover is beautiful and elegant, but the new MoC version is growing on me.
