For those of you who have a subscription to Sight and Sound, there is a very nice review of The Colour of Pomegranates special edition by Michael Brooke in the latest (April 2018) issue, on page 84.

Out of curiosity, are the other parts of Heimat available anywhere?

No, but there is a Blu-ray of the same program from Studiocanal Germany, which, interestingly, is in 1080/50i:
http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1=7251&d2=7253&c=2945
I wonder what the correct speed is for this, as I had understood it should be 25 fps, not 24 fps like the Second Sight Blu-ray...

What do you mean same program? The first part of Heimat just released by Second Sight?

Yes.

Well that seems unnecessary considering this release.

I'm not sure what that means, as the German release is not English-friendly, and in any event, was released over two years ago, in November 2015. Incidentally, there is also a Dutch Blu-ray release from Lumiere that came out in March 2016, and also claims to be 1080/50i.
It would be a shame if the intended speed of this restored version is 25 fps, because realistically, the Second Sight Blu-ray is the only edition that could present it properly, with English subtitles. If
Berlin Alexanderplatz is also 1080p on the Second Sight release, that would definitely be a shame, too, as that series is certainly native 25 fps, and is presented that way on the
German Blu-ray released last year.

I asked if the other parts are available. You said no, which answered my question. But why will I need an older release that's not even English friendly? That's what I meant by unnecessary

The length of the first episode is exactly the same on the german BR from Studio Canal (01:59:35:320 as indicated on caps-a-holic.com) and the UK BR from Second Sight (01:59:35:320 as indicated on the Beaver review). It must be 25fps in both cases.

The more complete answer was interesting because it might be pointing out a technical mistake in Second Sight's presentation.

I see. Well still seems unrelated to my question but let's move the conversation to that topic as it is important

I see. I was going off of the Beaver review, plus the DVDCompare
listing, though sometimes both get technical details wrong, and if the run times are exact, then surely the Second Sight is also 1080/50i, which is excellent, and bodes well for having
Berlin Alexanderplatz in the correct speed, too.

The DVDCompare listing now says 1080i/50, and David Mackenzie has said over on the Blu-Ray.com forums that Berlin Alexanderplatz will definitely be 1080i too.

I'm confused on Heimat. If they're using a widescreen master for the full frame TV program due to its theatrical exhibitions, why then also use 1080i/50?
