Shinoda's Silence has already been restored. I know Carlotta released it in France a few years ago.

how mad would Scorcese's fans on social media be if he got
Silence out there before
After Hours??
Personally, this Scorsese fan will be mad if the next release is anything that’s not
Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.

I think Silence is Scorsese’s best film not released by Criterion, but I’d have to agree that After Hours should be more of a priority (and I love it as well)

It won't be released by Criterion, but Tommy Lee Jones's The Homesman is a beautiful and underrated film that essentially arrived to knives out in 2014. It even cracked the Cannes competition, and it features yet another knockout performance from Hilary Swank. If Criterion were interested in Tommy Lee Jones, I imagine they would reach for The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada first, but there's no harm in hoping that Prieto is not there for yet another Scorsese film, however welcome.

I agree it's a criminally underrated film. And TLJ is a criminally underrated director.

Yeah,
Silence is easily my favorite Scorsese film of the past 20 years. Of his recent films, I would've preferred a release of that and
Hugo over
The Irishman. I do love
After Hours, I've been waiting for an upgrade on that one for years.

I know you folks are all suggesting different Scorsese films and they all fine films but the CC pic is featuring Prieto, so if indeed they are hinting a Scorsese film it has to be Silence or The Wolf of Wall Street. (Being that he's also holding After Life, a transcendent and spiritual film, leads me to Silence) And for all those folks into the UHD format, Silence would be a terrific addition to that format

I especially love that Paddington (two posts up) appears to be reaching for Female Trouble.

a really good closet vid from
Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman. I especially love what they have to say about
Mirror and Pasolini, but great story from Saul on
Do the Right Thing too. these are all so much better when there's a lot of great insight from the guests
definitely hope we get the Todd/Cate one, I'd love to hear what they have to say.

that and who knows, maybe Todd got to talk about
Eyes Wide Shut too!

Absolutely, this was a really good one. I
did want to let Uzeyman know that the visible boom mic in the opening scene of
Mirror is intentional (we're meant to be watching a documentary segment on the television)!

Would be awesome if it were the whole trilogy. I don't know where the rights stand these days, but way back around the time that Criterion released
Element of Crime and
Europa on DVD, HVE had the rights to
Epidemic.

If that does ever happen, I hope it’s with Manderlay (or include that as a “bonus film”- as they inexplicably do sometimes with major features). We really need that one on blu

after the Haneke announcement in December I can totally see it happen. I can't imagine anyone else holding the rights to these besides Criterion. very interested to see if we get me restorations or what the deal is here

They cut out the part where they urinate on some of Amy Taubin's liner notes.
