Re: Kino: MGM Acquisitions
Regarding an earlier question, the MGM DVD release of Altman's Buffalo Bill and the Indians runs 123 minutes, at least according to the case on my copy.
It's not my favorite Altman. I would dearly love McCabe & Mrs Miller on Blu. Someday...

Extras include an interview with, a much older, Shirley Jones for over a dozen minutes with some of her recollections of the film.

Re: Kino
So the new Kino Blu-ray of Run Silent, Run Deep appears to be transferred in 1.66:1, which does not seem to be the original aspect ratio, listed on IMDb and other sites, as well as the back of the Blu-ray case as 1.85:1.

There haven't been any announcements for a week, has Kino run through all of their initial licenses?

Re: Kino: MGM Acquisitions
Their initial deal with MGM was for approximately 70 titles. I would say they've announced around that number by now. I guess we'll see what happens next.

Re: Kino: MGM Acquisitions
I've just seen a review and several comments on the Amazon page for this that say it's a mono only audio track. I don't know what's authentic for this, but seeing that Waxman's score really the best thing about this film, it's a shame that we don't at least get the choice of the stereo track heard on previous releases and TCM broadcasts of it! There is a nice soundtrack cd at least.domino harvey wrote:And Taras Bulba

Re: Kino
Witness to Murder at DVDBeaver. Looks much better than I anticipated, clearly a new scan with one hell of a faithful looking grain field. Bonus points for not only releasing it in widescreen (despite the early 1954 release date), but at a precise 1.75:1 as well, rather than 1.78:1.

Re: Kino: MGM Acquisitions
The circulating TCM rip is an obvious open-matte with actual instances of excessive headroom/central framing, so I know of no one claiming it shouldn't be widescreen on the Blu

Well, as is often the case I suspect they just used an old TV/video master anyways. Regardless, Kino's disc looks like a great noir release everyone can enjoy
