However the films in the Monsters and Madmen set all had their own separate discs for each film - they were just grouped into two figure 8 cases for the monsters (Atomic Submarine and First Man In Space) and the madmen (The Haunted Strangler and Corridors of Blood). It was just the packaging on the individual cases that featured the double spine numbers.
It looks like this might be the first time that two spine numbers have shared one disc - normally it is the other way around with something like the Paul Robeson set or La Jetee/Sans Soleil making more than one 'named' film share a single spine number.

They only share a disc on the blu-ray version, right?

I think they'd have to split onto two discs for the DVD edition. With the supplements and features that's quite a bit. I suspect they'll be two DVDs but they'll share the same package.

Most likely, but they've been known to wait until Friday on weeks like this.

I'm pretty happy with the boon in November so December is no biggie for me but I predict The Killing and Kiss Me Deadly

December is usually a dead month, though, isn't it? I'm not expecting much beyond a Blu upgrade of Videodrome and maybe an IFC disc like Fish Tank.

I'll go along with this and add there will be complaining from some people about Criterion being lazy. (In spite of the two stacked months proceeding it.)

I have my fingers crossed for an Eclipse, maybe Naruse? Or more Mizoguchi - just because they're sitting on quite a few and it's been a while...

Has Criterion ever confirmed they're doing Au revoir on blu, or that's just wishful thinking?

Was one of the choices in the CC Amazon poll a while ago. . .

Man, I forgot this is even a possibility. Please be the 5 hour cut if true.

I'll make a left-field prediction: Bergman mega box ala the Kurosawa last year.

aox: i'd be very, very surprised if it wasn't. unlike the last emperor, the five-hour cut is bergman's preferred version and seems to be equally beloved amongst the criterion demographic. the five-disc dvd set is considered to be one of their best products ever and i see no reason why they would shirk on the blu-ray.
tom: that's a pretty radical suggestion... it was kurosawa's centennial, but ingmar's got another seven or eight years to go. still, it'd be fun if you were right (although, like the ak100 box, i've probably got much of what i want already.)

The problem with a Bergman set is that, unlike Kurosawa where they were missing the rights to only a few films, they are missing the rights to a great many Bergman films (if we are including the MGM box and his 80s, 90s output).
For something comprehensive, I would think an Ozu box might be more fulfilling.
Not that I wouldn't welcome a Bergman box...especially if that meant Blu.
EDIT: I realize his 80s, 90s, and 00s are television works.

For two consecutive months Criterion Cast posted YouTube links to each of that month's releases the night before. This month is Cronos and Videodrome.

Except that we've gotta spend December buying shit for other people. Damn holidays!
If
Cronos is coming out, however, I'm definitely asking for it as a Xmas present.
