I really wish they would fix the disc of Fear City. All current releases use seamless branching to allow for inserts for the international version (SD upscale, I believe) - but they botch the ending by not including Billy Dee Williams' final line from the International version, instead sticking with the US version cut of that scene. Everything else about the release (aside from the SD I guess) looks great.

Wicked Vision are about to release a new BD. Maybe they took care of this: https://www.wicked-shop.com/en/fear-cit ... on-06.html

The unrated footage is in HD on the 2k restoration Blu-ray Shout released.

It is in HD, but I could have sworn it was sourced from an inferior source and upscaled. I don't have the disc with me to check currently, but I did find a review of the disc online that supports my memory. But if it is restored on the disc, that would be great - but I definitely have vivid memories of my disappointment over the ending of the film being ruined by Billy Dee's last line!

Are you looking at a review of the 2nd Fear City disc that Shout released? Because they released it twice as site exclusives, with the 2nd one supposedly remastered.

No, I am not! I actually can't find any reviews of that remaster, and in fact, I am wondering if I've seen it - I don't believe I have. I remember getting the 101 Films release, which looks like it came out right around the same time as this newer Shout remaster, but the uncut version was the unrestored pieces via seamless branching and the ending was wrong. I will need to get this 2K remaster now and give it a spin! Glad to hear it's getting a wide release.

Here's the Blu-ray.com review for the remastered Blu-ray, it's a big upgrade over previous releases.

I'm happy a bunch of the site exclusives are getting wide releases.

Was their site exclusive of The Ninth Configuration better than the Second Sight one? If so, I'm hoping it's in the next batch of exclusives going wide.

The Shout release of Ninth Configuration used a new 2K scan of the negative, and, I think, the Second Sight used the same master as the Hen's Tooth release. So the Shout probably is an improvement. Pretty sure the Shout release has all of the same special features as the Second Sight release.

They’re also crediting multiple Powell & Pressburger films to Shout: 49th Parallel, Black Narcissus, A Canterbury Tale, I Know Where I’m Going, Colonel Blimp and The Red Shoes. Also Stagecoach, This Happy Breed, To Be or Not to Be, Hitchcock’s Foreign Correspondent and Sabotage. I believe none of this means anything for physical media and I doubt they’ve restored all of them. Maybe this is an error or they only obtained theatrical rights for these films.

A Room with a View, Stagecoach, To Be or Not to Be, and Foreign Correspondent are part of the Westchester Films library that Shout acquired in 2014. All of the others are owned by ITV and Shout has a relationship with them going back to at least 2018, but for these titles I think a safe assumption is that they only have rights to theatrical and perhaps in some cases streaming—Colonel Blimp is credited to Shout on its Amazon HBO Max page, but the digital copy is credited to Criterion instead.
