Actually, it's showing as available on amazon.co.jp for about $42 - although if past experience is any indication they'll likely force you to ship it FedEx. If you're up to it, I'd say at least try ordering the Bandai through YesAsia because they're not charging shipping.
And you can get a FREE Japan Mini capsule toy! Woo-hoo.

BTW -- The Japanese DVD has a nice bonus feature (NOT subbed, alas) -- Makiko Esumi returning to the Noto Peninsula (and Wajima) ten years after the film was made.

Just to follow this up: based on the thread, I went ahead and ordered the Bandai a few days ago (recently saw Still Walking so was interested in more Kore-eda) and early this morning got an email from YesAsia that it had just shipped. So yes, it's still available.
And I'm looking forward to the bonus, even though I know maybe ten words of Japanese (and have forgotten eight of them).

yesasia's price is absurd.
I could have sent you one for a small small fraction of that ...

Yeah... but would it have included a FREE Japan mini capsule toy? \:D/

I just got confirmation from Milestone that they have a new restoration in the works for release on Blu and DVD in early 2018. Excellent news after a very long wait. Hoping to get further details of the restoration and the sources.

DeprongMori -- Great news! I hope they can include the extras from the Japanese DVD (and more).
