I don't know if you're being serious or not (can never tell), but third-party complaints about copyrighted material will likely go ignored. Google/You Tube has a policy of removing copyrighted material only at the request of the copyright owner (which is all that the DMCA allows for [thank goodness for some limits]).

I think that Watkins, a noted opponent of media hegemony, would want his films to be seen by any means possible, in whatever format.

Matt, does Joyce know that you are illegally using her image?

She will soon.

I concur. This film has practically been suppressed and YouTube offers a format - however un-ideal - which I think the filmmaker would approve of. Barmy, you are officially someone who sucks, in my book. I hope Godzilla stomps on you.

There are alternatives to YouTube you know.
but not for Privilege.

I think Privilege on Youtube is fine, there's nowhere else to see it and I imagine that Peter Watkins wouldn't care. But Punishment Park on Youtube - this can only be a heinous crime.

Obviously.

Yes, something along the lines of what he said.

Universal won't budge but at least we have Punishment Park on DVD. I was surprised to see it on Youtube so don't anyone get the idea I'd advocate pirating that film. (Hence the lack of links.)

Those in London can see both Privilege and Watkins' short Forgotten Faces at the NFT (or 'BFI Southbank' as it's now called) on the 29th and 31st of this month.

Of course I'll be surprised if anyone shows up, what with YouTube and its amazing video quality singlehandedly eliminating all future theatrical & DVD sales as well as killing the film industry

So I see that Eveningland has now been confirmed on Project X's website - great news.

Has anyone seen or know anything about Fallan [The Trap] there is nothing on IMDB, though there is an interesting account of the production and a short synopsis on Watkins' website.

Is there a date for the "Evening Land" release yet? "The Freethinker" and the extended "Edvard Munch" Special Edition are all set to be released on October 30th. All three are very excellent films. Among Watkins very best. The rarely seen "Seventies People" is generally considered Watkins' greatest film after "Edvard Munch" so it's a little disappointing that there seems to be no hurry to release it, but I am happy with what we have. I remember years ago watching all these Watkins films on Zth generation copies of copies in which the moving, colored blobs were hardly even recognizable as people.

"The Trap" is by far one of Watkins' weakest films, in my opinion. Everything Watkins' critics say of him is generally true of "The Trap." It's a very short film, around 45 mins if I remember correctly, and revolves around a futuristic society in which families live in underground complexes requiring visitors to journey through endless check-points. The crux of the film revolves around a right-wing and a left-wing family members angrily yelling at each other for half-an-hour while the camera man (Watkins) voices his support for the status quo. In defense of the film, it's probably a not completely innaccurate look at how we'll all be living 30 years from now unless there's a proletariat revolution.

Website listed above. No release date yet. I look forward to seeing it released.

I have read about Seventies People and long to see it. I was wondering about The Trap as I'd not heard of it.

Hey ho. I'd still like to see it, whether I ever I will is another matter.

The Project X website has had that "Evening Land" link up forever. I don't think it's been updated in many, many moons. It has no mention of "Freethinker" or "Edvard Munch" SE despite the fact that the New Yorker page does. I have a copy of "70s People" but without subtitles. Some very haunting visuals along with very touching, eery use of music by... Al Jolson? I have no idea what anybody is saying, though. Superhappyfun has a subtitled copy. A friend of a friend has it and has been meaning to get me a copy. One year later... still waiting. Probably best to get it from them. "The Trap" is worth watching despite the fact that I don't care for it much. At least one person disagrees with my assessment that "The Trap" is a bad film. I do think it's pretty bad, though. I got it a few years back from a collector on E-bay. If you're interested I could go through my mailbox and see where I have his information. "Evening Land" is like a magnificent Costa-Gavras film. I had to hunt down the soundtrack soon after I saw the film. Very powerful. People who have never seen it are in for a treat.

Oliver Groom of Toronto Britpics was nice enough to send me the box art for The Freethinker.

No word on Eveningland.

No worries. It's still a bad-ass cover.

From Watkins website:
The situation with Privilege has now changed quite dramatically. After a long period of uncertainty, Universal Pictures have finally agreed to allow Oliver Groom to release the film as a DVD in North America. I can't say when it will be ready, but hopefully within the next six months or so. This is excellent news, of course, as this film has generally been unavailable since the early 1970s. For further information, please contact Oliver Groom in Toronto at [email protected]
