I can' t find the Brazilian boxset from retailers, only through Ebay unfortunately and for an inflated price.

Mr. Bongo have just had Minnie and Moskowitz classified by the BBFC.

Anchor Bay issued a DVD in 2000 that included commentary by Rowands and Cassel.

I have the French MK2 DVD and it's a good release.

More new releases being listed by various e-tailers: April should see Bertolucci's 'The Grim Reaper' and Pasolini's 'Mamma Roma'.

I got my Zvenigora and Arsenal DVDs on Friday, but i haven't got a chance to watch them yet.

We are very pleased to announce that we will be releasing Justin Mitchell's Rio Breaks on DVD and in cinemas in the UK later this year. Other DVD titles in the first half of 2011 include Minnie & Moskowitz, Il Posto, Mamma Roma, King Lear, Hamlet and The Grim Reaper (La Commare Secca).

Which Hamlet are they referring to, the German silent? (the Olivier and Branagh films are already out on blu-ray)

Pretty sure it's Kozintsev. They were announced briefly by Tartan (I think) a few years ago and never got released, probably because the company went under. So Mr. Bongo may have just gotten the rights for these. I hope they don't repeat the Ruscico nonsense and put the film(s) on one disc instead of forcing the viewer to take a break after 60 minutes or so to change the discs.

Just got Zvenigora the other day, anyone know about the proper fps on this?

The old Cultural Heritage disk had a 67 minute runtime for the original 1928 version and a 91 minute runtime on the 73 re-release version with musical soundtrack. I didn't notice any new scenes watching the two back to back and figured the difference was just the speed they were played at.

The bongo disc has a 91 minute runtime. I haven't watched it yet, but my feelings tell me it's just the 73 re-release. I was really hoping to see the original 1928 minute version with a brand new musical score. Anyone have any information on which runtime is correct?

I'm very happy to endorse Mamma Roma - the transfer is on a par with the Tartan and BFI Pasolini discs (i.e. very good indeed), and presumably came from a similar source.

Absolutely knockout film, too - why on earth did I wait so long to see it?

Only £7.99 for Mamma Roma from Amazon, although I would be more interested in a dvd release of Medea.

Don't, unless you have to have the film to prevent terminal madness. I got a copy misguidedly thinking that since it was stocked by the usually impeccable Moviemail it might be better than the Brazilian/Spanish edition I have. But no, it's even worse.
Should have pulled up when I saw the Cornerstone Media sign, but fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

I won't be buying it. When I did a search of Mr Bongo on Amazon, Chimes At Midnight came up, and I thought it had finally received a decent release. It was only when Knives corrected me I realised my mistake.

One Amazon.uk-reviewer of the UK release says that the Italian Sinister Film release is a "very good restoration". Is anyone here able to confirm?

There also appears to be a release in France coming out on April 20 from Films Sans Frontières.

Has anyone here seen Mr. Bongo's DVD release of "Story of a Love Affair" and can comment on the picture quality (whether it's progressive or interlaced transfer) and the quality of the subtitles? I came across someone's comment on the internet that says the subtitles are not good. Is that true?

The subtitles are the least of this release's problems. Avoid.
