I watched THE STENDHAL SYNDROME on Blu yesterday and thought the transfer was pretty "meh". There's a band of white grain/noise at the center of the screen and overall the grain looked very un-natural and noisish. I expected more of BU.

Their The Stendhal Syndrome transfer is the weakest of all their Argento titles. Still, it is a massive improvement over all the Stendhal DVDs, which were all pretty awful.

What's wrong with Salon Kitty? Amazon doesn't sell it anymore. Perhaps too offensive for somebody?

I haven't seen the blu, but the 2disc Italian version is pretty good for SD. The Troma DVD, of course, is another matter entirely.

To the above poster, thanks for the heads up on the Crystal Plumage blu. I ordered it two days ago, but it looks like they've since sold out.

As far as Salon Kitty, Amazon US went and pulled a bunch of "risque" DVDs and blu-rays maybe a month or two ago. There were some euro and Asian sexploitation titles that they pulled, although I don't remember exactly what.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage Blu seems to be back in stock on Amazon at the moment. I have ordered it last year and just got a shipping confirmation today. What is going on with this title?

It says "shipping 1-2 months" now, which means it's out of print, but they may have come across a couple copies and fulfilled some backorders.

I've got the Italian Stendhal DVD and it too, while miles better than the dreadful Troma DVD, has issues (one issue is it is over matted at 1.78:1 instead of the proper 1.66:1). If you are a fan of the film, Blue Underground's Blu-ray clearly is the way to go.

Diabolik flew through those Bird Blu-rays. I really hope that they can round up another box.

As for Amazon pulling titles, here is a thread at AV Maniacs that mentions some of the films they pulled.

Kudos to Diabolik! I was able to snag a copy of Bird before they ran out; it shipped on Friday and arrived in the mail today.

I have also jumped on the bandwagon with Diabolikdvd but now I have feeling that I had to wait  . My Amazon order for 'The Bird...' has been updated with new delivery date and I suspect that Blue Underground will re-press the title

Hey, I heard a rumor that Elio Petri's La decima vittima (aka The 10th Victim) will be released by Blue Underground this August.

First review of Deep Red up at Mondo Digital. It appears that they're actually derived from the same master, with the BU being superior PQ-wise. The reviewer says the difference is very noticeable in motion but looking at the caps I must admit I expected more.

The upcoming 10th Victim Blu-ray will include the full-length documentary Marcello: A Sweet Life as an extra.

I've been meaning to ask, is the Italian title a pun hence the English title being deep as in depth and thought?

"Profondo" in Italian has basically the same set of definitions and associations as "deep" in English.

First wave of reviews of the upcoming Cat O' Nine Tails BD.

Comments are very positive but the screencaps are less convincing.

The first one on rockshockpop is just, ahem, blurry.
Otherwise, it seems pretty fine. At least, it doesn't seem DNRed. :D

I think they look OK but we'll see what it'll look like in motion.

The colors though are a huge improvement.
