Turns out I never bought the Blu-ray, just the DVD which I can't even find now. Pre-ordered with Scarlet St though I really wish Arrow would offer standard editions at the same time, especially when we appear to only lose the booklet. To be fair though, this booklet seems to have more making of material than those essays that I've been less and less a fan of over the last few years. Indicator (sometimes Radiance too) are still the gold standard.

Looks like the only extra is the new commentary and a booklet, so I wouldn't say it's worth double-dipping. If you wanted to be a completist, you could easily make your money back by selling it and importing this to replace it. Up to you, basically! The Shout disc already looks amazing from what I can tell.

Yeah, I'm keeping my Shout! disc, it really does look terrific. Not sure what could be improved upon there

I'm actually really shocked Arrow didn't make more extras for this to make it a bit more compelling to buy over the Shout. as big a title as it is, and usually they have been able to make new extras for MGM titles, count me in as surprised to see so little here

Blue Velvet

Few filmmakers have left as significant a mark on culture as David Lynch, with his singular vision, lucid dreamscapes and liminal darkness. Before Twin Peaks and Wild at Heart brought him mainstream success, in 1986 he stunned the world with what many still consider to be his masterpiece: Blue Velvet. One day in the all-American town of Lumberton, college student Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) finds a severed ear. Compelled to dig further with the help of Sandy (Laura Dern), Jeffrey embarks on a journey into the dark side of Lumberton, where he is exposed to the sadistic, the psychotic and the strange that exists behind closed doors. His investigation first brings him to nightclub singer Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) and on a collision course with Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper), the frightening epicentre of small-town evil. Whether it's Hopper's ferocious performance, Lynch's uncompromising direction or the film's unforgettable portrait of corruption beneath idyllic Americana, Blue Velvet remains as startling and controversial today as it was upon release.

Special Features

Deleted Scenes, Documentaries: ''Blue Velvet' Revisited'; 'Mysteries of Love' (2002); 'Welcome to Lumberton'; 'It's a Strange World: The Filming of 'Blue Velvet''; 'Strange Desires' (2003), Image Gallery, Interviews: Isabella Rossellini (actor); Dennis Hopper (actor), Double-sided foldout poster featuring two original artwork options; Reversible sleeve featuring two original artwork options; Opening scene comparison; TV spots; 2025 intro and outro by Frederick Elmes (cinematographer) and Duwayne Dunham (editor); Newly compiled excerpts from the television version; 'Siskel & Ebert at The Movies': The critics' divisive review of the film, Outtakes, Trailers

THERE ARE BAD COPS AND THERE ARE GOOD COPS - AND THEN THERE'S BULLITT. It's a mood, it's a look, it's the roar of an engine and the screech of tyres on asphalt. It's the car, it's the music, it's McQueen and his ice cool eyes. Fasten your seatbelt, Bullitt is back. When the star witness for a Senate hearing on organized crime is killed before taking the stand, federal prosecutor Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn) blames Lt. Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen), the man tasked with keeping the witness safe. Now Bullitt is out to find the triggermen and bring down the kingpin behind them. But nothing is quite what it seems and as he digs deeper into the case, he himself becomes a target. An iconic action thriller with one of the greatest car chases ever put on film, impeccably directed by Peter Yates, Bullitt set the bar and would go on to influence Walter Hill (The Driver), Michael Mann (Heat), Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof), Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) and many more.

IF THIS PICTURE DOESN'T MAKE YOUR SKIN CRAWL. IT'S ON TOO TIGHT. Before Halloween and Friday the 13th came to define the slasher movie, director Bob Clark (Deathdream) laid the groundwork with Black Christmas - a chilling, suspenseful masterpiece that transformed an ordinary holiday into a nightmare. As the festive break begins, the residents of a sorority house find themselves tormented by a series of obscene phone calls. But when one of the young women disappears, the disturbing messages give way to something far more sinister. With a relentless killer hiding in plain sight and panic mounting inside the house, the survivors must confront an unseen evil before Christmas comes to a bloody end. Steeped in atmosphere and mounting dread, and featuring an iconic cast headlined by genre stalwarts Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder and John Saxon, this Canadian classic is a landmark of psychological terror whose shocking ingenuity and nerve-shredding suspense make it one of the most influential horror films ever made.

When Harry Met Sally

CAN TWO FRIENDS SLEEP TOGETHER AND STILL LOVE EACH OTHER IN THE MORNING? In 1989, after the huge success of This is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride, director Rob Reiner would go on to collaborate with Nora Ephron (You've Got Mail), Billy Crystal (City Slickers) and Meg Ryan (Innerspace) to radically redefine the romantic comedy with When Harry Met Sally. Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) share a ride to New York City. Initially, Harry's bravado and Sally's innocence clash, particularly over the question "can men and women be friends?" Despite this, over many years of chance encounters, a deep friendship develops between the two. As their connection blossoms, a sudden lapse of judgment forces both Harry and Sally to answer once and for all: can men and women truly just be friends? With a timeless and Academy Award-nominated screenplay, career best performances from its stars, as well as flawless supporting performances by Carrie Fisher (Star Wars) and Bruno Kirby (City Slickers), it's impossible not to love When Harry Met Sally.!

Special Features

Booklet, Bonus Tracks: 'It Had to Be You': Harry Connick Jr., Commentary: Rob Reiner (director), Nora Ephron (writer) and Billy Crystal (actor); Rob Reiner, Deleted Scenes, Documentaries: 'How Harry Met Sally'; 'It All Started Like This'; 'What Harry Meeting Sally Meant'; 'I Love New York'; 'So, Can Men and Women Really Be Friends?'; 'Stories of Love'; 'When Rob Met Billy'; 'Creating Harry'; 'Scenes from a Friendship'; 'Where Harry Met Sally'; 'The Directors: Rob Reiner', Image Gallery, Interviews: Marc Shaiman (orchestrator), Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Marc Aspinall; TCM Classic Film Festival 2019 Panel Discussion: Panel with Rob Reiner, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (actor), Trailers

I revisited this recently and I think it holds up and is wonderfully stripped down and streamlined, not just in the action sequences but overall. A great straddling of the studio era rigidity of form and the coming 70s amorphous turn of American cinema. Perfectly happy with my WB Blu-ray from the McQueen three pack though

A naff, plagiarist hit-job on Jay Shaw's Point Blank Criterion artwork for the slip, I'll gladly dispense with it as the artwork for the case is, whilst perhaps not quite the original promo artwork, close and era specific.

Agree. I love the police procedural aspect. The scene where they go through the contents of the suspect suitcase is so long and steady you can get a real sense of their job satisfaction.

A Blu-ray.com user posted a pic of the production credits from the booklet and, in case the picture doesn't show up for some reason, the subtitles are credited:
Dylan Cheung (1) / Mark Galloway, TIm Wong & Ken Zhang (2&3) / The Engine House Media Services
Edited to add: Galloway posted on the Blu-ray.com forum rhat this was done off beacuse Dylan Cheung didnlt have the time to do subs for all three. But, since Cheung has said he is stepping away from subtitling, I wonder what Arrrow is going to do in the future.

Were Tim Wong & Ken Zhang involved with the Shout! subtitles too, or was it just Mark Galloway?

While it’s a shame Cheung wasn’t able to work on all three films, it’ll be interesting to get a film-length taste of the difference in translation style (although I just realised the Engine House credit probably indicates some sort of revision or contribution to the subtitles too). Really looking forward to seeing these films again, since probably the ‘90’s.

ABT2 Workprint

I'd seen the theatrical so long ago that I only recognized scenes from the crazy finale on my first watch of the work print. I'm not planning on watching the theatrical restoration this weekend lest I get John Woo burnout but I suspect Tsui Hark cut a lot from the American scenes since the assembly edit is a good half hour longer overall. They really put Dean Shek through the wringer here and I wouldn't be surprised if some of his character interactions with Chow Yun-Fat got removed and his recovery feel less powerful in the shorter edit. The finale gets talked about a lot (I especially like two characters dropping their guns and fighting each other with samurai swords) but Ken fighting off would be assassins with a shotgun in the hotel corridor is very cool and there is a bit that predates Chow Yun-Fat sliding down the stair rail in Hard Boiled. It's glorious in its ridiculousness.

Maybe one day Fortune Star undertake a restoration of the work print with John Woo finessing the final runtime.
