I'm calling it right now: Little Darlings

I'm going to say Oh! What a Lovely War. It was Richard Attenborough's directorial
debut and released by Paramount. It's never had a blu-ray release and also, it's probably
the kind of film that warrants a 4K upgrade with it's famous closing image, etc.

Deadhead Miles fits the bill

I suppose Little Darlings couldn't be called "significant" to anyone but a bunch of girls and sensitive boys born between 1968 and 1974, so you may be right. But I'm crossing those fingers and toes!

It’s marginally significant to me, because it was the first film I ever sneaked into underage in the cinema. And I’d also quite like to see it again now that I know that the same cinematographer shot, believe it or not,

I think it holds up incredibly well. A movie that doesn’t offer any simple platitudes about growing up or taking your first tentative steps towards forming a romantic relationships. It’s definitely developed a big queer cult following as well due to 3 of the actresses in it (who are all excellent, as is Matt Dillon, just off of Over the Edge)

It's got some needle drop all-timers: Supertramp's "School," Lennon's "Oh My Love," but maybe not "Let Your Love Flow" (replacement for "Here Comes the Sun" when it couldn't clear).

My mom saw in theaters and would bring it up a lot when favorite movie talk came around––was blown away on first watch by the McNichol-Dillon scenes. The Armand Assante subplot's touchy, but Maxwell forgets about it for a while.

I like it a lot too, but the writeup implies that the director is someone who is more well-known (but, then again, VS does have a fondness for puffery that doesn't really pan out once announced...)

I think it was the first film to use Blondie’s now-overplayed “One Way or Another”, which is heard in almost its entirety

I don’t think it’s Little Darlings, because it’s not a directorial debut considering Ronald Maxwell directed a TV movie before this, unless it’s strictly referring to theatrical works. Would Real Life work? It’s a directorial debut from a renowned director and is owned by Paramount.

I think you’re right.

I thought that at first, too, hoping it could still be a confirmation for Goodbar, but since it's preceded by "a [singular] real doozy," I think whoever wrote it just doesn't understand semicolons. The complete sentence:

Don't be too concerned with the price, it'll be in the same price range as typical VS limited editions with slipcases.

So I’m guessing this will probably be around the 30 to 35 dollar range so that’s not… terrible I guess.

Someone guessed Bad Company on the other site. Not really "significant" for Paramount, but fits the description. Robert Benton's getting up there (and was nowhere on the Nobody's Fool extras last year), so it'd be great to hear his memories of filming with someone like Hemphill moderating.

A great guess, and I forgot that it was his directorial debut. He declined to be involved with Indicator and Kino Lorber’s releases of films he has worked on

News to me. Which Indicator release did he decline to contribute to?

Maybe they meant Imprint (which released Twilight)?

The new Vinegar Syndrome Labs release is going to be an 80s Polish masterpiece in it's English language debut. Chances are that it's probably going to be Sexmission but we'll just have to wait and see.

I immediately assumed Sexmission, partly because of the symbol, but mostly because there really aren’t that many other 1980s Polish titles that would be plausible Vinegar Syndrome releases!

Although I daresay The Curse of Snake Valley has potential there too, but the symbol doesn’t fit in the same way. It’s also decidedly not a masterpiece, unless “masterpiece” is synonymous with “gave its name to the Snakes, the Polish equivalent of the Razzies”.

(I have no involvement with this release, whatever it turns out to be.)

The Polish Blu Ray of Sex Mission has English subtitles. I really enjoyed it back in the 1980s at a crowded film festival screening but watching it again recently at home it really hasn't aged well.
