No, not at all. I didn't mean that. I was only wondering why some titles will enter the MoC canon while others will not, especially if the only changes will be cover art.

We're just having to make some tough decisions, that's all. I want to concentrate on new titles, and these things cost a lot of money and take a lot of time. We'd rather bring over SUNRISE and THE LAST LAUGH than DER GOLEM. It might appear next year, who knows? --

why is spine #1 still blank?

why can you just make spine#11 be spine #1, for example?

Is it really a good idea to consider spine #1 so important? What ever is chosen will be looked upon as a good choice by some and a bad choice by others if you place too much importance on it. I think it should be up to the viewers to consider which they think are the better films, and which are not.

I mean, they are just spine numbers, not a ranking. As long as it isn't anything too crazy.

I think that DVDs should be released in alphabetical order by Director's last name. Unless they're from equatorial new guinea, with the clicks and whistles and whatnot... then chronological. hah

Have just acquired Metropolis. What can one say...SUBLIME!! I have always admired this film from afar and this edition has opened up one huge re-appraisal.

I was enamoured with Michael and now this...if MOC continue to release discs of this quality we cineastes around the world are in for one hell of a renaissance.

This release is destined for end of the year accolades, the design & presentation alone knock spots of 99% of DVD releases.
Nick and the MOC team you have set a new standard, Congratulations!

Can a two year old DVD be "Best disc of 2005"? This one is available in Germany since April 2003 via Universum/Transit. The MoC is a direct port of this version with another artwork.

That's absolutely true, and we haven't denied it. We said all along that's what it was -- which is better than the Americanised version released previously by Eureka and Kino.

-- and don't forget the 28-page booklet with Jonathan Rosenbaum essay. It took me a month.

First, I just want to tell Peerpee and everyone associated with the MoC website how much I really like their site. I was wondering if there were any future plans to list the running times for the films? I find this sort of information useful. Thanks very much for all the great work!

The running time for the films on the MoC series DVDs.

The running time is there for titles that have already been released or are very nearly about to be released. If the time is not there yet, it's simply because we don't have any accurate info yet.

Any chance of releasing The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari?

Not at the moment, but we're aware that it could be done well.

There are rumours, that Transit Film will release "Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari / The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" in Germany in 2005. Other titles are "Herr Tartüff", "Münchhausen" and "Die Nibelungen". "Nosferatu" will follow in 2006.

I just got my copies of METROPOLIS and TARTUFFE in the mail. Now I haven't watched them yet, but I want to say to Nick that these look simply beautiful. You've put a lot of care into the presentation of these DVD sets and I, for one, appreciate that to no end. Hats off!

do you mean the actual packaging, what are MOC using?

digipaks? keep cases? please explain more...

No, no, just the design, the look. It's done with great attention to detail and I appreciate that. Though the transparent cases do look nice as well.

We're trying not to let release dates slip, but the Teshigaharas have slipped one week to Feb 28th.

We'll be able to announce May and June's titles in a few weeks.

Expect a lot of Japanese.
