DarkImbecile wrote: Tue Feb 01, 2022 11:08 pm What if we did them all but the bigger categories were worth more and the more chaotic, underseen (unless you’re knives) categories still had value but wouldn’t decide it on their own?

Something like:

5 POINTS: Picture, Director, Acting, Screenplay

3 POINTS: International Feature, Cinematography, Animated Feature, Documentary Feature, Editing, Sound, Costume, Makeup/Hair, Score, Production Design, Visual Effects

1 POINT: Song, Animated Short, Documentary Short, Live Action Short

As I always say to my wife, I’m open to suggestions and/or outright rejection
I'm game for that system
EDIT for the sake of the pagebreak

And for absolute clarity, it is 5/3/1 points per correct answer in each category?

OK, so unless there are any further objections, just make sure you have your predictions for each category posted in this thread (or PMed to me if you're worried someone will Price is Right your guesses) before 2AM ET on Tuesday, February 8. I'll post the results for the nominations round and then we can continue into the predictions for the ceremony, where the scores can really change!

NOMINATIONS:
5 POINTS: Picture, Director, Acting, Screenplay

3 POINTS: International Feature, Cinematography, Animated Feature, Documentary Feature, Editing, Sound, Costume, Makeup/Hair, Score, Production Design, Visual Effects

1 POINT: Song, Animated Short, Documentary Short, Live Action Short

WINNERS:
5 POINTS EACH

The winner will be PM'ed $20 in Criterion store codes (and maybe more if anyone else joins dekadetia in adding to the pot) the day after the ceremony.

With Best Picture, there should be negative points for missing films, because otherwise everyone will just max out on ten films guessed even if, as there hasn’t been for a decade, ten films aren’t nominated

The Academy changed the rules to guarantee ten slots this year, so that shouldn't be an issue this time

Would've been sad/funny had you lost the predictions competition because you only listed nine movies
