Can anyone comment on the quality of the Marco Ferreri box set. I have had my eye on it for quite some time now and wanted to hear what people who own the set have to say about the transfers, sound, and extras.

I'd say the set is a must. The quality is more or less the same as non-R1 releases of the same films, I believe. There are no extras except for an old doc on Ferreri on one of the discs. Its packaged very nicely, booklet style.

On Blu-ray... or can we all just be happy with our Ripley's and MoC releases?

Both are DVD-only releases.

This is a shame. E1 acquired the rights to these titles several years ago, and I'm guessing at the time of acquiring them they would have sold well (for films of this kind). But it took a long time to release them and now I suspect most collectors aren't willing to upgrade to a higher quality DVD--but will instead upgrade to a Blu release when it occurs.
I wish I knew more about E1's decision making, whether they knew this would be a waste but that they also do not have the rights to Blu? Maybe they think this is a good way to test the market.
On a side note, they also picked up Ossessione, so I'm curious why this was not included in their release schedule. Perhaps the elements are really really bad?

The elements should be decent enough. Again, I have the Ripley's release from Italy. Ossessione probably looks the best it is ever likely to look on there and whilst it isn't
Riso Amaro or
La signora di tutti quality, it's perfectly fine.
If E1 drop the ball with
La terra trema, the Italian releases of both these films are well worth picking up.

There's a good article on the Hollywood Reporter website about the fight over rights to La Dolce Vita. Paramount claims it's part of the Republic Pictures Catalog.

Does E1 Entertainment own all of Wellspring Media's library? If not, what happen to the distribution rights that Wellspring Media had for all their video and theatrical releases? Does anyone know who currently owns the video distribution rights to Russian Ark (2002)?
