As a reminder, there are just under two weeks left before I finalize the ballot in the first post of this thread and voting starts. If there is anything you wish you could vote for but you don't see it in the ballot, I would recommend talking it up in this thread in the hope that someone else will second it. If any categories end up with less than two entries, they won't be included in the final ballot
And now there is just under one week. And for the record, I haven't added Adrian Martin's
Seven Samurai commentary to the ballot. I'm still waiting for someone to say they second it
Seconding Adrian Martin's Seven Samurai commentary.
Also, I still hope against hope that someone will kindly second my nomination of the 4K UHD Seinfeld set for Best Upgrade. For it is a massive, massive upgrade, though not without some minor flaws.

I second Hatari! (Kino) and The Man I Love (WAC) for upgrades.

There are a few categories that currently have only one or no contenders on the ballot and I'd hope to give them some competition. FYI the following have received nominations and just need to be seconded to be added to the ballot:
BEST COMMENTARY
Howard Berger, The Shootist (Arrow)
Michael Brooke, Face to Face (Imprint)
Barry Jenkins, The Underground Railroad (Criterion)
Kim Newman & Sean Hogan, Witchfinder General (88 Films)
Imogen Sara Smith, Scarlet Street (Kino)
BEST BONUS FILM
L'Emission a déjà commencé (She Is Conann, Altered Innocence)
Shadows in the Dark: The Val Lewton Legacy (I Walked with a Zombie/The Seventh Victim, Criterion)
Tamala's Wild Party (Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space, Deaf Crocodile)
BEST BOOK/BOOKLET
All the Haunts Be Ours: Volume Two (Severin)

I'll nominate If I Should Die Before I Wake from Flicker Alley's Never Open That Door release as BEST BONUS FILM. The third Cornell Woolrich adaptation meant for Door, it was expanded and released on its own. Currently streaming in the Criterion Channel's Argentine Noir collection.

I'm late to the party on this but just so we get an actual ballot for it, do you mind counting these late seconds for best commentary swo? it's alright if not, just give Adrian Martin his prize:
Maltic wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:34 pm
RADIANCE
Allonsanfan (Brooke)
Viridiana (Brooke)
Love Letter (William Carroll)
EUREKA
The Cat and the Canary (Stephen Jones and Kim Newman)
The Cat and the Canary (Kevin Lyons and Jonathan Rigby)
The Valiant Ones (Frank Djeng)
KINO
He Walked by Night (Imogen Sara Smith)
Scarlet Street (Imogen Sara Smith)
Nostalghia (Daniel Bird)
BFI
I Was Born, but... (Adrian Martin)
There Was a Father (Adrian Martin)
Floating Clouds (Adrian Martin)
Ikiru (Adrian Martin)
but I don't think everything necessarily had single votes. you can count me for seconding MichaelB on
Face to Face if his
Allonsanfan and
Viridiana tracks didn't get any votes, and the Adrian ones can probably be eliminated since
Seven Samurai is on. the only track I can think of that didn't get mentioned at all was Tony Rayns on Indicator's
You & Me. we had plenty of time to do this, I know...

Did I miss where we nominated best labels? Because Imprint deserves to be on the list at any rate
Re: The 2024 All Labels Matter Awards

We didn't directly nominate labels. I made every label that had at least 3 releases on the ballot a contender for the Best Label category. There was only one Imprint release that made the ballot (the Scorsese box). Another perhaps surprising exclusion was Indicator. That suggests to me that if Imprint were on the ballot for Best Label, it wouldn't get much support. But maybe we can handle this differently in the future
