Some reports suggest the new "extended" version just has the ITMFL 2001 short that screened at Cannes at the end of the movie.

I haven't gone to the cinema to check this out (and probably won't ever), but from all the pieces of information I gathered from the many people I know who have seen this, the extended cut feels like an one-off thing specifically designed to scoop up some extra money in the market following Blossoms Shanghai, the Chinese TV show Wong directed the previous year. Not only is the added scenes attached exclusively at the end of the show as if it's a bonus short, it lasts only for ~6 minutes (as oppose to its 32-minute long source material). In addition to this change, all text appearing on screen, including the iconic title, is changed to simplified Chinese. The voice acting credit for Roy Cheung (as Mr. Chan, who never shows his face) is removed, with his dubbing replaced with another actor's. This cut won't appear on any physical media or streaming platforms. Also, the promotion is closely tied to Hao Jiu Bu Jian, a spinoff of Blossoms Shanghai. All this suggests the new cut is made on the back of the "want-more" buzz following the domestic success of the TV series, not that WKW has anything new/interesting to add to his original masterpiece.
