For those who may be revisiting the
Eno documentary each month to see a different iteration (the documentary was designed to be continually mutable via a specially-designed non-AI software program and The Criterion Channel streams a different version every month)...
That non-AI generative software program appears to be following a formula when presenting the
Eno documentary where the major deviations from previous iterations all appear in the film's second half. This is true of the new September version where, apart from a brief previously unseen interview clip appearing near the beginning, the first half of the doc presents the same content in roughly the same order as seen in the August version (as well as the June and July versions). However, starting at the 44 minute mark, we're treated to almost entirely new segments; approximately 30 minutes of previously unseen footage. The new material includes a funny sequence where Eno is asked to recite his own quotes given to the press years earlier, a lovely live performance at the Acropolis, and a discussion concerning Eno's disapproval of being a specialist (with surprise B-roll clips of
Hard To Be A God,
Andrei Rublev, and other films) that is so on-point for the artist that it seems like it should be the centerpiece for every iteration of the documentary.
