Tommaso wrote:But where is "36 vues du pic Saint-Loup"? And 'The abandoned myth' (perfect title!) should also include "Marie et Julien", which however is too good for an Eclipse release. Now where do we place "Don't touch the axe"?
I revised my previous list. The Abandoned Myth box is doable since all three come from the same licensee. The Borgesian titled Under The Map of Paris however are split between Janus, Sunchild, & Losange. Still, a boy can dream.

More of the same.

Okay, I’ve got the inside word on the timeline for the Out 1 release. The precise dates might change, but it’s going to look something like this.

1 October 2010 – Criterion newsletter released featuring wacky winking owl saying “Rivette? Who? Out soon.”

2-10 October 2010 – Forum consensus assumes this means Out 1 is coming soon. Strong holdouts insist it’s actually promising Celine et Julie vont en bateau or The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

15 November 2010 – Criterion announces nine disc Out 1 DVD box set for February release.
Includes both versions.
Special Features:
• Round robin commentary on Out 1: Spectre
• New feature-length documentary on the making of the films
Jacques Rivette: Le Veilleur – ‘Cineastes de notre temps’ episode directed by Claire Denis
• Two rare Rivette shorts: Essai sur l’agression and Naissance et mort de Promethée
• New and archival interviews with Rivette, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Bulle Ogier and Barbet Schroeder

15 November 2010 – Several Criterion forum members express outrage that this box will not be simultaneously released on BluRay, vow to boycott release.

29 November 2010 – Cover art for box set posted. Hailed in some quarters as “worse than pink Viridiana”; several posters refuse to buy set as protest against cover art, will wait for unconfirmed (and not even rumoured) MoC release with original poster art (or not).

18 January 2011 – Minor alteration to cover art posted, derided.

1 February 2011 – Flurry of anxious posts about release date. Absence of early reviews leads to assumption that release has been abandoned. Criterion lacerated for lack of commitment to Rivette. Members vow to boycott all future Criterion releases (again).

2 February 2011 – Glowing DVDBeaver review posted.

2 February 2011 – Beaver screencaps disappoint several forum members, who cancel pre-orders and say they’ll hold out for a different region’s release, a BluRay upgrade, or a 50% off sale.

10 February 2011 – Chris posts images of packaging. It doesn’t look that bad after all. Some people actually think it looks quite good. Several posters are outraged that it isn’t a digipack and vow to boycott the release on those grounds.

15-27 February 2011 – Lots of posts from members asking one another if they’ve received the Out 1 box set yet. They haven’t.

28 February 2011Out 1 box set released.

15 March 2011 – Criterion announces special edition of Donnie Darko. Howls of outrage about Criterion’s lack of commitment to classic auteur cinema and weepy nostalgic posts about the good old days.

3 June 2011 – First forum post about Out 1 box set. Complains that ‘Cineastes de notre temps’ episode has been edited by seven minutes. Asks when L’Amour fou is coming.

I thought he already won. Also The Extended Southland Tales would be more annoying to some than Donnie Darko.

Everyone on here knows that Criterion only sells their new stuff for 3 minutes after they're announced. They then destroy all known prints of the film and left over dvds.
Correction: Criterion has infoemd me that the staff have a buffet style dinner where they eat the actual film. Something akin to the scene in Take The Money and Run where the robbers eat the bank surveillence film.
