The second volume will contain "24 films from 18 nations" and will be revealed in full on Thursday

One of the nations is definitely Czechoslovakia, although I daresay that won't come as a surprise.

Hey, no hay.

A shame they couldn't land The Owl Service this time around with Network out of commission. But a few of the titles mentioned upthread are in this box, and I'm happy this might be an ongoing, well-curated series.

I didn't expect we'd get another Mike de Leon film out of this, this box sounds better than the first even though, as far as I can tell, nearly a third of the films are available elsewhere.

Demon wasn't available anywhere before, no? That's the film I'm most interested in, and Bakeneko.

About the same number as the first, but this one has more films and some really good finds too. Especially nice is the inclusion of the new fiction anthology including writing by the great Ramsey Campbell. Kier-La Janisse is one my favourite people working in ‘physical media’ (amongst other things) right now. So glad she found a home with a label so willing to allow ideas to bloom and digress in many a direction that follows.

I have an English-friendly Polish DVD, although this should be a substantial advance.

If it’s the Wrona film I’ve seen that on DVD in the US.

Extremely happy to see Itim (The Rites of May) included. It's a beautiful, understated film that deserves much wider recognition.

would've been cool if that Beauty and the Beast track was on the Second Run disc...hopefully they do release The Ninth Heart. anyway, do I really want this? some stuff I'd like to have, but others I'm not even sure I'll enjoy. and yellow subtitles? do we think this set will be the same as the first in that regard?

They didn't ask me, and it came out before I recorded my commentary for Severin, so it was never an option.

I tend to get offered Polish stuff by Second Run; their Czech films are usually handled by various members of the Projection Booth team, although in Jonathan Owen they have a bona fide expert whose knowledge of Czech cinema - and indeed the Czech language - very comfortably exceeds mine. Although I think he was on booklet-essay duties for Beauty and the Beast.

Incidentally, here's a sneak preview of my commentary, in which I discuss a stunt that went horribly wrong.

How were the subtitles on the first set? I don't recall where I read it but they were fairly sloppy apparently.

Edit: read through the first five pages and found the comment.

no and that's fair - admittedly I thought for sure your track was for The Ninth Heart, which I'd assumed SR was just gonna port over in tandem with this set (much like they did for the Witchhammer piece). I'm very on the fence about the set, especially as my completionist brain would also need to own box 1 too, and I'm just not sure. I do hope Second Run does ask you more about Czech films, as I do enjoy your Diamonds of the Night track a lot, but of course you're often there for Polish cinema. thank you for the preview!

hopefully they give us some word on the subtitles, though I'm sure they won't be changed unfortunately

Andrew Furtado (post-production coordinator) has this year said he’s been pushing for them to include proper translated english subtitles for all their non-english language titles where possible. Though whether this has resulted in better quality subtitling, only time will tell.

considering the first set still hasn't sold out, I'm more than happy to wait for reviews + see if UK labels pick up some of the titles here I'm interested in. the subtitling really should be a thing...

Ramsey Campbell writing new material for the hardcover book though is tempting. But I've got so much still to get from the last two years (Criterions especially) that as with Shawscope Vol 3, I'm probably going to be patient and wait for the inevitable 50% discount on this thing myself.

Vol. 2 is being delayed because they found "a superior source element for one of the films" and are doing additional audio work on another film in the set.

A longtime poster posted it on the Blu-ray.com forum. Guess I should have double checked Severin's social media. Sorry for the possibly wrong info.

They sent me this e-mail:
We wanted to let you know that we’ve recently unearthed a superior source element for one of the films in ALL THE HAUNTS BE OURS: VOLUME 2, and have made the decision to also do additional audio restoration on another of the films. It’s an opportunity for us to make this collection the very best it can be, and the extra time will deliver exceptional results.
Shipping may be delayed up to a month, but we think you’ll agree it’s worth the wait.
As always, thank you for patience and support.
Team Severin
