Already in my basket at Amazon. Ship sails on is a revelation after the duff copies of yesteryear. Chapeau Gaumont!

I wonder if it is possible to assemble a list of Gaumont's DVD / Blu-rays that offer English subtitle options, and those that don't, since Gaumont doesn't indicate this information in their postings. Just post your list.

The Carlotta thread is
here but good news nonetheless.

screenshot comparison of
8 1/2 posted at BluBrew.com. To me Gaumont is obviously a newer scan, more filmlike, yet kind of blown-out comparing to the more eye-friendly Criterion transfer.

I take it these are pressed discs, but probably without English subs, right? I'm basing this on info from
this thread and a quick search through the titles available on amazon.fr. Incidentally Nabob, what have you done with my shoes?

No french HoH only. They were the Oxford brogues with the lifts right? I spilled Perkins Cobb's latte on them and have sent them to Dickie -W to breathe on.
Apparently dyspeptic halitosis works wonders.

Chabrol specs are up. English subs so if you hate the criterion artwork you gets a choice.
Cross-posted on the Serge thread too.

I pre ordered "La fin du monde" last week and I just received an e-mail from Amazon France notifying me the item is temporarily out of stock with a new estimated ship date of December 15th.
I clicked on other Gaumont a la demande releases and found almost every title is temporarily out of stock.
Do you think Gaumont will replenish the stock before the estimated ship date?

All this month's titles I ordered (Chagrin, Assassin and Fin) were shipped by Gaumont to me two days ago. You could do worse than order direct from Gaumont boutique and be assured of getting them sent a couple of days before release date.

Hey any updates on the Joan of Arc restoration mentioned here last April? This is my FAVORITE film and I've long craved to see Falconetti in HD!

Coming a la demande this October Le Bled - Renoir, Ophelia - Chabrol and Epstein's Finis Terra, stand alone, regardless whether it's also included in the Potemkine box set.
Can some helpful soul please update the thread to 2012?

I don't think he knows who Pro-B is.
Sheesh, it's like two years later, but I can see that nobody enjoys my humor.
I'll spell it out for you: only studio rep's were using sign off's at the time. Can't a man just add to the pile-on in peace? But yeah, two years ago, I know. Fun times.
Back again to the topic at hand. How is the track record on these Demande titles?

Minkin wrote: How is the track record on these Demande titles?
Very
simplistically...
They are sourced from existing beta masters.
They are pressed DVDs.
There is no restoration work done.
If a title proves popular it is a candidate for restoration and blu release in the Classics series.
There are no english subs.
There are french HoH subs.
They are otherwise unavailable containing great titles from the likes of Allegret, Chenal, Clouzot, Duvivier, Gremillon, Renoir, etc etc.
There are some titles from Bresson and Pialat coming soon but again 'no frills.'
I do not know yet whether Finis will be the Arte restoration that was broadcast or an earlier incarnation.

Just received the Gaumont edition of 8 1/2. Surprisingly this blu-ray is region free (bearing Region ABC logo on the back cover and playing fine on my Region A PS3),contradicting reports on blu-ray.com and several french sites. But yes it lacks the English subtitle. I wonder if the other two Fellini titles are region free too.

Thanks Nabob!
From the Gaumont site it looks like the films (from the first set) are sold individualy. Unfortunately i am unable to find an online seller - any idea? Would be great if this would be the case with this set as well (the recent german set has already most of these releases and double dipping these huge sets…come on, it would make me feel like a complete idiot).

can anyone confirm that the JLG/JLG dvd has english subtitles? Does it have english subtitles in the box set? It says subtitles: english for the box set, but I'm not convinced that it means that everything has english subtitles, or that the single dvd will have english subtitles just because it did in the box set.
