Give it a second, I doubt they're cropping it. It's probably a typo.

Remember when Guns At Batasi and These Thousand Hills were listed as full screen only in announcement and ended up being correct widescreen ratio?

You're probably right. Sorry for my melodramatics. Don't want this to turn into the Breathless board.

I wonder if the release of Frank James augurs well for future DVD releases of Lang's films for Fox. I tend to think that Lang's efforts for Fox are among his weakest overall. (American Guerrilla in the Philippines anyone?) But what I wouldn't give for a good release of Man Hunt, which must rank among Lang's finest Hollywood work!

This announcement, coupled with Turell's e-mail regarding the Fuller disc of I Shot Jesse James, makes me sad. I really want to see the Ray...oh well.

I was thinking the same thing looking at those caps last night. Looks like b&w colorized then dunked in hydrochloric acid.

Seems like CBS/Fox must have utilized other source materials for the laser disc release of The Return of Frank James. Seen it, David?

It is a real shame! I have viewed Lang's other two technicolor westerns recently (from Optimum), and the colors on those titles were not very good either. Rancho Notorious in particular looked very parched.
