Trailer.
Saw it two nights ago at MoMA and it's excellent, a fine way to cap a filmmaking career. Pretty sad as well given his unique approach to developing a film - I get the impression more than a few aspiring filmmakers have tried it as well, but it takes more than knowing the instructions to make something of it.

It’s a great depiction of social work too, one of the more realistic I’ve seen. I’m loving the rise of Kate O'Flynn this year

I haven't seen Widow's Bay and couldn't remember her in Leigh's other films (two brief roles and a third I haven't seen), so everything about her performance appeared completely new to me. The whole cast is wonderful. Also surprised to find out that the woman who plays Rosie is the real-life daughter of the woman who plays Birdie. (I didn't remember their names until I looked them up: Alice Bailey Johnson and her mother Marion Bailey who has been in several Leigh films, going way back to Meantime 43 years ago.)
