One upgrade I will inevitably buy and one truly exciting world cinema resurrection. Will take it.

Semi-lacklustre sale has just started across UK retailers. I say lacklustre because whereas they've usually included 90% of titles up to a certain point in their annual November offer, this time it has been a much more limited selection. The prices are fair on the whole but a few titles are priced higher, presumably due to the number of discs in those releases. Seems some retailers were not prepared and lots of titles discounted one place and not another, or just out of stock and unsure when will be restocked. A little messy and frustrating if I'm honest.

Whilst admittedly they've included many titles from the past 12 months (Peter Hujar's Day, My Beautiful Laundrette, The Big City, Trouble in Paradise, The Breakfast Club, Life is Sweet, Kiss of the Spider Woman, House Party, Captain Blood, Dead Man, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, I Know Where I'm Going, His Girl Friday, Él, Hell's Angels, Nightmare Alley, A History of Violence, Altered States) but for some reason not others from the same period (Point Blank, Gilda, The Blade, 3:10 to Yuma, The Man Who Wasn't There, Birth, The Dead, Yi Yi). Dozen of older titles aren't on sale though, as they've previously been in every previous offer.

A shame as I was particularly looking to get The Man Who Wasn't There, Birth, Point Blank, The Blade and The Dead...so will I have to wait another whole year? I'm hoping this decision been made in preparation for annother flash sale again in March or whenever it was (as they did earlier this year, though the only title new to a sale was The Burmese Harp).

Point Blank I would have picked up had it been discounted on Rarewaves. I may get His Girl Friday though. RW don't appear to have Yi Yi in stock, but if I do get that one on UHD I'll probably go with the Carlotta.
