J. Todd Anderson, storyboard artist for Michael Almereyda, Shane Black, and most notably the Coen brothers, starting with Raising Arizona and continuing uninterrupted thru their solo work (his final credit will be Joel’s Jack of Spades next year). Ethan cowrote his directorial debut The Naked Man, which is trying at something but is unfortunately like watching a goofy Coens movie with a serious head injury.
That's really shocking and saddening news. I spoke to Bauza on stage just a couple of months ago when he came out here for the screening of Coyote vs. ACME. I'm not sure I've ever encountered a more enthusiastic audience or a more warmly received festival guest; people were lined up for a good hour afterwards just to have a chat and get a photo with him, and he was incredibly generous with his time.
Walter Koenig, 90, best known for many Star Trek shows and projects and whose career in stage, film, and television spanned sixty years.
No obits yet, but this was just reported by Jesse Thorn (host of the arts and culture interview program Bullseye, distributed by NPR), who received the news of Koenig's passing from his friend Danielle Koenig
I know it is going to be Star Trek all the way, but I fondly recall being traumatised for years in my early teens after my parents rented out Moontrap (NSFW) in which Walter Koenig stars with Bruce Campbell(!) as astronauts fighting against cyborg-creating moon aliens! I was similarly traumatised by LifeForce around the same time, and Moontrap has many of the same features that gave me sleepless nights, with its dessicated zombies, biohazards breaking containment and copious amounts of boobs being flashed!
