Note from 2013, web browser translation:
Leone researcher Claver Salizzato "recalled his operation to recover the missing 15 minutes in the negatives of the film Once Upon a Time in the West, to Tonino's disappointment because the scenes taken from the positive did not render the lights well."

Unsure what the above means. Sounds like those 15 minutes, in existing masters, are not taken from OCN or close-to-OCN material.

The 15 min of the longer version, which maybe came from a private copy Leone had stored for himself. Hmm, but actually these were less than 15 min.

The title comes with the exit music, no freeze frame. Credits after a fade out over red and black.

The ending from the 178 min version:

The title appears a bit earlier, the credits over a freeze frame which begins with the exit music.

The ending from Paramount but with the correct closing music:

The title and credits appear much earlier. Comes probably from a German disc, the dub features the correct music. Or it is fan made with exit music added.

The usual Paramount version with the wrong music:

End credits from a 1983 US TV broadcast, one of Paramount's uncut (but pan-and-scan) 16mm TV prints
End credits from a German 35mm print
