Do Criterion charge you when they ship everything if your order has a backordered item and you want everything together?

Re: Criterion Collection Store
If you were able to order it before it went out of stock, it should ship relatively soon along with everything else you ordered. If you haven't already ordered it, you've missed your chance for now. You can't place an order for an item that's out of stock

Just a reminder to all that the B&N sale should start in about two weeks and you can grab the out-of-stock items then for the same discount

Re: Criterion Collection Store
I have it in my cart and it appears to let me go through the whole checkout process, despite showing as "On back-order" in the basket.

My guess is that you'd have better luck receiving it from the next sale faster than backordered from Criterion but who knows

Was hoping it would just be delayed a week or two to land on my next credit card statement!

Fantastic for those of us who actually have to work for a living and aren't glued to a computer all day. Do out of stock items ever come back into stock within the 24 hrs? I understand this happening during teh B&N sale, but not directly from CC. Jesus Christ, just take the orders and add the count to the next print run.
And now I'm reading on the other forum that anyone who pre-ordered the Kubrick set before the sale will get a store credit reducing its price to 50% off anyway? Would have been nice to know ahead of time!
On top of this, I only received the $10.00 Channel coupon and not the "loyalty" coupon, despite ordering several times since the last sale.
All in all, "Thanks Criterion"
Kiss may ass!

Re: Criterion Collection Store
dwk mentioned on the other forum he got a few Fox titles so that made me go back and check what I didn't have. They don't seem to be releasing anything from Fox that's not Anderson and Del Toro lately so I thought ah fuck it better safe than sorry and went for Forty Guns, Flight of the Phoenix and Leave Her To Heaven. Not going to sweat it over the $7 shipping charge and the $4 PA sales tax the latter of which would have been applied anyway. At least Forty Guns and Flight of the Phoenix have had recent-ish restorations and Leave Her To Heaven might not get another release ever, so..

Re: Criterion Collection Store
I had enough reservations about the Carax and Kubrick sets to hold off on buying them. Depending on how much they break out, I may just pick what I need from that - from what I can tell, there are five Kubrick titles that I'd want as either audio or picture upgrades over what I already have. Could be a stretch to wish all five getting broken out or released by another boutique overseas, but I guess we'll see.

That was my thinking. These probably aren't getting released again and, setting aside the GDT and Anderson films, it is coming up on 5 years since the most recent Fox licensed title was release. (Cut to Criterion announcing UHD upgrades of a bunch of the Fox titles.)Finch wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2026 12:16 am dwk mentioned on the other forum he got a few Fox titles so that made me go back and check what I didn't have. Serioualy, though I do hope they can at least do Blu-ray upgrades for the remaining DVD only Fox titles.

And Amazon usually price-matches most titles after a couple of days (if that is anyone's preferred merchant).therewillbeblus wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2026 6:48 pm Just a reminder to all that the B&N sale should start in about two weeks and you can grab the out-of-stock items then for the same discount

Re: Criterion Collection Store
Yeah literally two minutes after placing the order I thought ah I could have gotten those from the local B&N in two weeks and saved on both the shipping and PA tax. Ah well, only an extra $13. I'll live, and was planning to use the gift card on the other titles I already mentioned anyway. Compared to what others have spent on the Arrow, Indicator and now Criterion sales, I've restrained myself.

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Not exactly OOP, taken down from their store altogether. You can search it up, but it doesn’t show any stock status or purchase option whatsoever (unlike the titles explicitly marked OOP), and it’s disappeared from the new releases section of their site/store. Even after the standalone Eyes Wide Shut 4K flew off the shelves last year, it seems they might’ve underestimated demand for the box set, or even if they knew they would run out of stock so fast, they might not have been able to get enough manufacturing capacity to meet the inevitable demand.

Hoping B&N has good stock when their sale starts or I will have converted 30,000 credit card points to B&N GC for naught.

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Your gift card shouldn't have an expiry date. I checked my store rewards card and my own new B&N gift card and neither has a limitation on it as far as I can tell, other than the monetary cap. Even if you were to miss out next month, the card should be good at least until next June's sale, right?

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Is it common for Flash Sales to apply only to the available stock?
This last one truly upset me with Criterion.
The sale started at noon. I teach at a university at that time.
When I returned home, I immediately tried to place the order, and found that it was sold out.
This problem would be experienced by anyone who works and cannot place an order in the middle of the workday.
If the stock was limited, surely they could have come up with a better sale window (such as sale from midnight to midnight, which would give equal chance to everyone).

Re: Criterion Collection Store
Yes, Criterion's flash sales are always limited to in-stock items. The announcements usually state:
"The Criterion Flash Sale ends at noon today! Get 50% off all in-stock discs at criterion.com. Shop our curated guide and choose from over 1,300 films, including Oscar Winners, Cult Movies, Best Sellers, Criterion Closet Picks, Box Sets, and more."
But I noticed the initial email announcement of the sale did not specify "in-stock" this time.
