Back when it was first announced, Sister Hyde said (in her Instagram comment), "The disc book features newly designed compartments that protect the discs and provide easier and safer access than previous sets." The linings probably have something to do with it.

On the one video I saw, the sleeves were quite tight though, and it seems to me it'll have a bigger impact over tight that how they're coated.
I'm also wary about coating with plastics, which are prone to generate volatile compounds (like in the plastic Amaray-like cases, that end up having some greasy coating over depositing over time inside the case and of course on the disc).

The term I believe he used was "a little bit snug," which can mean anything, especially from a set that was freshly machine-packed.

Also, I mean, discs themselves are coated with a plastic UV-activated polymer varnish, so I honestly doubt that coating the sleeves will make a bit of difference other than providing a subtle layer of protection from paper grain.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but have the dimensions of the box been revealed?

The designer, Drusilla Adeline, said this on Reddit:

Hi! Designer, here! The box, if stood vertically, is around the same height as the Bergman and CC40 boxes, about 12". However, the nature of the Archival design means that it can also be stored on your self flat, the same way Kubrick stored his archival boxes. And that is about half of a standard blu-ray height. There's many different ways to safely and stylistically display this one on your shelf, no matter the shelf size you're working with.

I have a lot of music box sets and most of them are rather unwieldy in these situations, so I’m used to having them more in closets and other spaces. It’s kind of all around the house at this point in rather unorganized fashion but I could see this purchase snapping me out of it.
