Also, when you search for titles on their site, you'll get quotes for different types of rentals, not just consumer product, so it's possible most of their money is made through other types of distribution, and the home consumer division helps maintain their profit margin by serving as an additional revenue stream rather than their main source of revenue.

Reports are that the Mad Max Blu-ray isn't from the 4K master, but it does have the original mono track. And it seems Kino, rather than fixing this, has opted to delete their facebook post saying the Blu would be from the 4K master.

How does Kino Lorber make money? Sheer volume of product? They’re always running some sort of deep-discount sale, and their discs are already pretty inexpensive (for licensed content). It seems they announce a new title every day or two, and it’s almost always something I can’t imagine selling more than a few hundred titles. I’m not trying to be catty, I’m genuinely perplexed.
Maybe you should ask this question somewhere where a KL representative actually posts. After Shout and Criterion, they're the most successful label in the business.

Well that's disappointing.

I don't think so. They said at the start of the sale they won't be restocking anything (i.e. no backorders) so once they run out of their current inventory they would be removing it from the site.

Oops my bad. I haven't been following for awhile so didn't realize that's how OOP was being defined here. So yeah it's OOP.

I only post notices of titles in the "While Supplies Last" sale that sell out, as those are truly OOP. Any other titles that sell out from other sales are due to temporary stock depletion and are not OOP, but will be unavailable to purchase at Kino's website for a little while.

The Spiral Staircase (1946) is a temporarily out of stock title, and is not OOP.

More OOP based on previously being in the "While Supplies Last" sale and now no longer appearing on the website:

American Dreamer (1984)
Billion Dollar Brain (1967) (DVD Still Available)
China Moon (1994)

EDIT: Apparently The House on Carroll Street (1988) is simply temporarily out of stock.

From the screen captures, the Kino Fellini's Casanova looks too bright and washed out, and like the screen captures from the recent Essential Fellini Amarcord, this transfer seems to disregard the distinctive treatment of shadows and color saturation that is characteristic of Giuseppe Rotunno's color cinematography. The Kino commentary does sound great, but visually the earlier Mr. Bongo and Carlotta transfers look far more like Rotunno's work to me.

Paris Blues (1961) (DVD Still Available)

It looks as though the previously OOP BD of F.I.S.T. (1978) is back in stock, so they presumably got some copies returned from retailers or customers.

Update - this, along with a few other titles (which includes Cast a Giant Shadow and Cotton Comes to Harlem) per KL Insider: "We found some boxes of a few OOP titles in our office warehouse, boxes of 20 or 30. A few more titles will become available again while quantities last."

I would assume any MGM license not released in the last year is fair game

KL Insider just said this when asked if they were new to home video.
Looks like 22 are new to DVD and 14 have been previously released in the U.S.

One of the titles was previously released on Blu-ray.
Could the previously released bluray be one of the Lionsgate titles?
