Should at least be blue instead of orange/red.

I wonder what the origin of the thin word, thick word title treatment on the spine is. I'm sure I've seen other titles done in the same way but cannot recall any off the top of my head at the moment. Isn't it sometimes used for romantic comedies?

I think that's a good example of a simple but well designed title (and cover), but yes, thin-THICK font-ing is quite prominent in the last ten years or so. Walk down the aisle at Target and look at the spines, I'm sure every Kate Hudson movie is guilty

Hipster douchebag: the movie!

Or at lest that's what it tells me. God, is it so hard to make a poster that you have to resort to generic headshots of insufferably smug-looking people? This thing pops up on my AppleTV screensaver all the time and it just irks me so much.

Those are the worst kind of posters; ones where they don't say anything. I mean yeah, it looks like a film about hipsters. I don't get it.

Why why why why why why why?
Alpha? I want to like you sometimes, but then you put things like this into the world, and then I think anyone who releases silents like this should go out of business.

As long as you're going to have bright orange skin and use that neon green for clothing, why not go all the way and replace Arbuckle's hat with this?

Alpha always colors old B&W stills and promo art with garish unrealistic (and often neon) color schemes. Since they're all bargain basement PD releases, no one cares. I don't think the Photoshop is all that bad compared to a lot of the monstrosities posted in these threads for the past eight years, but u kno how Alpha b w/ covrs

This would probably be my pick for the worst Alpha cover I've ever seen, not only for the colors but the unnecessary cheap video game background. If anyone else has a better contender for worst Alpha cover, please post it in this thread.
The entire concept of the DVD is bizarre. Who in the world shops for silent comedies that specifically take place in amusement parks?

I, just, why even color the black and white images for a cover if it's going to look terrible? If there are people stupid enough to reject black and white films based on the fact well, they're in black and white; this is going to give people more stupid excuses.

I wasn't sure if this belonged in this thread or the rediculous reviews one, but this is from the cover of the Sound of My Voice BluRay:

Image

Wow! This special feature must be really special is it warrants its own special blurb and special picture on the back of the cover!
SpoilerShow
'The Making of Sound of My Voice' is four minutes long, most of which is taken up with clips from the trailer. Basically, it's a trailer with about 45 seconds of interviews inserted in place of that voiceover.

What's wrong with Artificial Eye designers?

Their covers for upcoming Truffaut titles are uninspiring as well...

At first I was really confused because I saw the title and thought "None of these people look like Chevy Chase, Carrie Fisher or Billy Barty!".

Remember Murnau's City Girl (1930)? It's about a waitress who gets married and moves to a wheat farm in Minnesota, which oddly is located right next to a hideous 2000-era Tampa, Florida skyline, with several financial skyscrapers looming above. She wears her waitress uniform in the wheat fields and gets all blurry and depressed about the state of architecture 75 years in the future.

Wow. That is really atrocious. A 6 year-old with an iPad could do better than that. It's from 2009 (dvd) & only coming to light in this thread just now? I hope that font is exclusive to the cover.
