Re: MoC Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on

#951 Post by Mozart »

as I stated, I wanted to give feedback to the design of the covers and I guess MoC is interested in that kind of feedback of regular customers. And I think I did it in a appropriate way.
MoC stands in my opinion for great overall quality, and thus for great covers as well (think of [nearly every release])
And the lighthouse Touch of Evil is regarding to my taste not a beautiful one or one which fits the film very well.
Whats your opinion on that?

I do not want to be too much off topic, but this scale is the most used in psycological or marketing science.
and CSM126 probably your mother has not told you, but insulting other people is not the way to go...

Thanks for giving me feedback, that it is a absolute no go to sign off posts here.

He's referring to the lack of German or Italian films. To be fair you have since posted on another thread that you don't mind so no big deal. I hope you'll check these films out, you'd be crazy to ignore Japanese cinema.

I thought it was a reference to MOC releasing films that have already gotten good editions elsewhere. If he hates on Criterion for such and not MOC I will be mighty amused.

It's just what my particular interests are as I started watching non-mainstream cinema to improve my languages. I'm not someone who won't watch something because it has a certain origin or original language. I just happen to collect, and mainly watch, German and Italian cinema (and related films like the American Murnaus and Langs or closely related French cinema).

I think people spend far too much time whining about other people's opinions on this forum. People seem to care more about what I think about Criterion than I actually care myself. I've never really moaned about what you've suggested anyway - it's when there's overlap on Blu it irritates me as I'd much rather see a wider range of releases, but who wouldn't? Another batch of first time Blus from MoC here: great! Hopefully they'll release more of what I want in the future.

Why should they release more of what you want? What about what I want?

I really really like the TOE cover. It's classic and stylish. Good job MoC!

Way off topic but I was just noticing how we're always referring to each other as 'He' around here and I'm just curious, are any of you females? Are we just a big D&D club?

From @mastersofcinema Twitter :
Have just placed a BBFC logo on a nice looking MoC cover, ready for the printers, and it was like curling off a turd on a painting.

I wonder if it would be too complicated to use stickers for BBFC logos?

Not too complicated, but possibly illegal?

Distributors are obliged to put the rating on, and all MoC can do is make it as unobtrusive (i.e. small) as possible.

It cannot be illegal as many steelbooks (including Metropolis) have those rating logos as stickers or on a piece of paper.

Yes, and the Studio Canal collection BDs have them as stickers on the shrink wrap as well, I think...

So, may be only allowed on non-Amaray cases?

Or maybe MOC can't afford the extra expense of separately printing and affixing all those stickers. They aren't free you know.

I've never minded the BBFC rating logos. It's probably because I've grown up with them and they've always been part of a VHS/DVD/Blu-ray. They're fairly small and unobtrusive, especially compared to the German monstrosities. I hate them on special releases however, like the Mabuse or Lubitsch boxes.
