Because of Eddie Van Halen's unfortunate passing, I learned today that Twister is being remade.

Is Ridley just saying yes to everything now?

I'd say that taking on a Napoleon epic, a Kubrick vision that he was unable to actualize, isn't so much "saying yes to everything" as it is a very self-gratifying project to undertake on a variety of levels. Plus if you can nab Phoenix, why not go for broke?

I'm referring more to the other films he has in the pipeline. He has the other period piece with Ben Affleck, and the Gucci movie as well.

Don't know how I missed this, but Brady Corbet is in pre-production on his next film, titled The Brutalist, with a terrific cast including Joel Edgerton, Marion Cotillard, Mark Rylance, Sebastian Stan, Issach De Bankolé, Vanessa Kirby, Alessandro Nivola, as well as Vox Lux's Raffey Cassidy and Stacy Martin.

The plot's synopsis:
When visionary architect László Toth (Edgerton) and his wife Erzsébet (Cotillard) flee post-war Europe to rebuild their legacy and witness the birth of modern America, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client (Rylance). What follows is an epic saga and an unconventional love story that will take László and Erzsébet to both monumental heights and devastating lows.
The material seems right up Corbet's alley, who reports it's very "close to his heart", and it's easy to tell why when he describes it as: "Amidst a revamped cycle of populism and prejudice in the 21st Century, ‘The Brutalist’ is a film which celebrates the triumphs of the most daring and accomplished visionaries; our ancestors.”

I can't wait to see how he combines macro and micro concerns this time!

Raffey Cassidy being in the cast is excellent news — she was the best part of Vox Lux.

Whoever is adapting is attempting something quite, uh, bold. Wonder what parts of it get toned down and what parts retain the labyrinthine insanity of the source.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is helming it and is close personal friends with Hideo Kojima who also happens to be the man who created Metal Gear Solid. It couldn't be in better hands. Whatever that may eventually mean.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts had actually gotten Kojima's approval for directing a MGS film back in 2018.

Jack Black has been cast as well— sounds like everyone had a good time making the House With a Clock in Its Walls
