Would Arrow be interested in restoring Halloween (1978)? I´m no expert on the film´s home video history, but I know there has been a few revisions of the colour timing.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
WWS and REB BOXSET are separate items on the list, so I imagine WWS refers to Wolf of Wall Street...but Arrow's just cheeky enough that I won't discount the possibility that WWS stands for Weird Wisconsin, and REB stands for something else.

These are interesting films I suppose if a gigantic statue completely wrecking shit is your forte. I'm pleased that some of the other kaiju films, namely the ones not produced by Toho are finally getting some time in the spotlight.dwk wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 4:46 pmKim Newman tweeted that Arrow is releasing the Daimajin Trilogy

I'm not sure whether a better Halloween UHD can be made can the one currently in circulation. It's not the most visually impressive UHD I've ever seen but it's consistent with every iteration of the film I've owned on home video, and I've owned it in every medium since widescreen VHS. In the Mouth of Madness could use a good restoration, though.Stefan Andersson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 12:43 pmWould Arrow be interested in restoring Halloween (1978)? Unfortunately, I´m not equipped for UHD. Which bluray edition do you prefer for fidelity to original colours? I know there is one or more home video edition with a grey filter to simulate Autumn light.

I believe the best Blu-ray is supposed to be the Anchor Bay 35th anniversary edition

Unfortunately this one doesn't have the original mono audio which is worth calling out. I don't believe any release has the right color/original mono track

The copy of Halloween found in the Scream Factory boxset uses the 35th anniversary edition's video and has the original mono audio.

A filmmaker named Jonathan Zaurin revealed in a interview last month that he had edited an essay for an upcoming Dario Argento release from Arrow. I wouldn't be surprised if "T UHD" was for 'Tenebre'.

Arrow's plans for the releases of Richard Stanley's 'Hardware' and 'Dust Devil' have been cancelled due to claims of domestic violence against him.

Nico Mastorakis was a Greek junta collaborator, but that did not stop them...

I'm not very familiar with the Greek junta and have no idea who Nico Mastorakis is. I'm guessing I'm not alone there so it's a bit easier to fly under the radar. Whereas people who regularly collaborate with Arrow are tweeting about Richard Stanley. It's good they made this announcement now.

I hope they’ll thoroughly check the backgrounds of every director from now on. I want my movies clean.mteller wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 11:39 pmNo, they probably don't! Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
Having seen the specific nature of the allegations against him, I'm not surprised that Arrow took that decision - it would have been a potential PR nightmare for them.
Non-British readers may not be as aware of this as British ones, but over the last ten days or so misogyny in general and violence against women in particular has become perhaps the main national cultural talking point following the Sarah Everard murder, the charging of a serving police officer, and a subsequent vigil-cum-protest that was subjected to a needlessly heavy-handed crackdown (which in the process created truly terrible optics for the Metropolitan Police). For Arrow to then blithely release films known to have been made by someone allegedly responsible for repeated instances of precisely the kind of misogynist violence that's being increasingly widely condemned...
...well, as I said, I'm not surprised they took that decision.
And I doubt that too many anonymous keyboard warriors would have done differently if they had to defend their decisions to the people who paid their salaries and who obviously have a strong vested interest in their company not getting caught up in all this.

The inevitable posts of “Yeah, he abused those women, but I want my sci-fi blu-ray” are disheartening.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
These are the specific charges against him - short version: repeated instances of domestic violence against more than one partner, including revenge porn. All untested allegations, obviously, but law enforcement and the FBI were contacted on more than one occasion so there'll presumably be an official record of things like physical injuries.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
I could be wrong, but the tone of the messages announcing this suggested they had no desire to deal with him ever again ("they've now been cancelled and so has he"). If that's how they feel on a personal level, I can't see any reason to fault them - I've had to deal with domestic abusers on a number of occasions when I wasn't the actual target of their violent behavior, and if someone told me I owed it to strangers to do business with said abusers, I'd tell them to fuck off.
