Aren't "rare" and "hit" as well as "British" and "International" both contradictions?

Traditionally the slogan has been "From the FAB world of Gerry Anderson," but I guess for this release some Americans actually got the approval of the Food and Drug Administration. I'm impressed!

It's too bad, as VEI did a great job on their In Search of.. set, it seems that something has made a serious turn for the worse.

Here's VEI's other recents attempts:

(note: everyone should avoid VEI's Persuaders release, as it is available in a wonderful bluray set from Network in the UK - with a large book + tons of bonus features, whereas this shitty dvd from VEI appears to be barebones).

Great, like 2 hours after I praise their In Search of... cover, they announce this thing:

The extra glam on Search really adds a lot. Im guessing that this is Phase4films doing (the barrage of horrible coverart)? At least the price has been dropped from the absurd $149.99 to a very reasonable $24.99 MSRP -and only lose two pilot episodes in the process (its a great show, all of you should pick it up, as long as you can stomach that cover).

I think I've seen student photoshop covers better than those.

What the hell? There were 144 episodes of that piece of shit? I can remember The Sci-Fi Channel (before they were SyFy or whatever the fuck they are now) used to air the same twenty episodes over and over when I was a teenager. Even then I knew that 95% of it was bullshit. Now as a college professor whose research focuses on the nature of pseudoscience I can't wait to see the rest!

It looks like Robin Williams is about to sneeze into Mila Kunis's hand, and she couldn't be happier about it. Yuck.

I like to imagine that they came across a ginormous bottle of novelty wine being used to advertise a local town's upcoming festival (perhaps rather stupidly left unattended in the middle of the town square), drank it all and are only now considering the consequences of what they've done.

The follow up scene involves the pair coming up with a crazy scheme to refill the bottle so that the townsfolk don't notice. Probably involving replacing the wine with Ribena or something.

The final scene involves them admitting their folly to the crowd only to find that in the meantime the bottle has tipped over, rolled down a large hill causing lots of slapstick chaos and has splashed into a river, never to be seen again, so our heroes didn't need to have admitted their drinking problems. But their girlfriends forgive them (leaving the snooty upper class wine lovers that they've been wooed by/been eyeing up in the meantime), won over by their honesty and love of getting blind drunk!

The problem with that sideways cover is some serious disregard for laws of physics. Maybe not Spiderwoman bad but if they are sitting on top, then Giamatti's backside is clearly occupying the same space as the top of the bottle. The only way for that composition to make sense is if they are squatting in front of a giant bottle, in which case your "consequences" may need to be reevaluated, Colin!

It would appear that whoever does VEI's covers has access to only one picture of an explosion - it's the same one on both covers.

If you have that good of an explosion, why would you ever look for more?

I was thinking the same thing.

It looks like one of those one buck DVDs you use to find at the Dollar Store.

I'm overjoyed this is finally coming to blu-ray, but god, this cover design:
