His upper body is a blurry photo. His lower body is right out of Waking Life. And he’s dancing in a kindergarten playroom by the look of that carpet.

Clearly these designers of this Saturday Night Fever cover made it so terrible because they want to ensure that the 50th Anniversary edition is really special. Or the 48th Anniversary.

You have to hand it to Paramount, their run of consistently awful art is impressive.

Okay, that's the first one in quite some time that's laugh out loud funny.

I think there’s a dictate in the industry that steelbooks must always be ugly

Quietly, as if defeated: I think this one’s great.

The only steelbook I've ever considered buying was the 50th Anniversary one for Forbidden Planet, simply because it more or less replicates the original poster. Should've gotten it because it apparently goes for a hefty price now.

The only good looking steelbooks I’ve seen are anime or ghibli, and also this Image

That ‘Pulp Fiction’ cover is the first time I’ve seen commas to separate actors’ credits on a poster/cover.

Happy this is coming out on UHD, but ugh... will someone please tell Warner's to use a publicity shot of Bogart
from the actual film? Also, in the UK cover apparently Casablanca is being targeted by radar, or someone's trying
to send out an SOS or whatever.

There are so many graphic artists in the world, how are the worst ones the ones who keep getting hired to design steelbooks?

Maybe I'm just getting more sensitized to violent imagery, but imagine trying
to suggest a movie with that cover to watch with someone on a casual movie
night. Ears, anyone?

That picture doesn't capture the most essential part of the steelbook design:

Well, I've finally experienced a situation where I'd pass on owning the film if that was the cover across all packaging for the release. "Awful" doesn't begin to cover the sprawling missteps in the final product

My theory on steelbooks is they’re meant to reflect the tastes of certain completionist collectors… where the more gaudy and gratuitous it is, the more must-own.
