October releases include What Lies Beneath, The Relic, Breakdown, and Crocodile Dundee Trilogy, along with 4K releases of Scream and The Addams Family.

So Scream is the first Miramax title to get released on UHD?

It’s the first film from the Miramax library - though Cinema Paradiso was also a Miramax title, though they no longer own it in the US, so technically I think that has it beat and there could be other weird cases like that.

I was speaking more of films they produced and/or still own but, yeah, Cinema Paradiso was first. (And, truthfully, Cinema Paradiso is more representative of the mediocre arthouse titles they use to release. But that is a whole other discussion.)

Hopefully the Scream UHD will give us the unrated cut of the movie that hasn't been seen since the laserdisc era.

Also great to finally have What Lies Beneath, which will complete my Robert Zemeckis collection (at least of his good movies...I can't bring myself to own Welcome To Marwen even out of completeism).

While I don’t hold much hope for that happening, it’d be nice to see at least one of Wes Craven’s films, from A Nightmare on Elm Street onwards, get released in it’s international cut. Elm Street, Shocker, Scream (& The People Under the Stairs?) have all been generally stuck worldwide with their US R-rated versions since the advent of DVD. Even better’d be pre-MPAA versions but that seems even more of a pipe dream.

The cuts are really obvious when your used to seeing what’s missing.

Does anyone know if Paramount's new blu-ray of In Harm's Way is region free or not?

Dead Again is finally getting a stateside release, but unless the transfer is superior to last year's Aussie release, it's too little, too late for me.

Ragtime will be released for its 40th Anniversary in November. Looks like as part of the Presents line.

Heaven Can Wait (1978) coming too - not via Presents, but still extremely exciting to see! Makes me get my hopes up for a rerelease of Reds that doesn't look terrible for its anniversary...

Death Becomes Her could really use a remaster though, as I recall.

Yeah, the Scream Factory edition looks like ass, more than likely an old high-def master made for DVD or TV

caps a holics compares new Paramount Presents BD of 48 HOURS with old BD

That's a substantial one: the old BD is heavily cropped, with worse colours and less detail, too. Walter Hill is one of my favorite old school directors, so this goes on my shopping list.

I recently revisited 48 Hrs. and was let down.. I never thought it was a great buddy-cop movie but the film was far more entertaining when I was a kid catching it on TV. Agreed that Walter Hill is overall a blast though

Well THAT is an interesting choice. I have to say The Sheik is a film that, in addition to just not being very good, has certainly not aged well, especially in the #MeToo era. It sounds like they will be addressing its less politically correct aspects in the supplements. It is encouraging, though, to see a silent film being released in this line, and hopefully this bodes well for Paramount lavishing special treatment on better silent films in the future.

This is a rare case of a studio directly releasing a title Kino Lorber recently licensed and put out on Blu-ray. I can’t think of any others, actually

As Paramount is touting its 100th anniversary, I believe that's the primary reason The Sheik was chosen for release. It is most likely the most famous 1921 movie they have in their catalog. I will say I enjoy the movie for its camp value. I currently own the Kino Blu-ray, which looks great and has a score by Ben Model. Unless this Paramount release is somehow just gorgeous beyond belief, I don't see myself replacing the old Blu.
