I don’t think the two blackface Garland and Rooney movies are ever coming to Blu from WA

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
The latest TheExtras podcast George Feltenstein mentioned that he and animation historian Jerry Beck are working on something they hope to get green-lit from Warner Media (37.30 minutes in). He said it's on the scale of the Popeyes and the Tex Averys. I'm not sure what that could be. Any guesses?

Someone mentioned on another forum another possibility is The Bugs Bunny Show

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
Isn’t The Bugs Bunny Show just short skits around classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies? Not sure it makes sense as a release, but I do love that catchy theme song, a staple of ABC Saturday morning cartoons as a kid.
After never receiving any sort of follow-up to the Porky Pig 101 set back in 2017, I’m holding my breath on adventurous Warner Bros. cartoon sets. But I’d hope for more character sets, director sets, or even a release of the infamous banned eleven.

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
bits from a podcast Feltenstein was on recently (skip to 2:32:00):
Zaslav, the WB/Discovery CEO, seems to be respectful of WB's legacy so the Archive doesn't seem to be in peril.
The '31 Jekyll and Hyde is almost done.
The Mosquito Coast is very likely to going to happen soon, thanks to their deal with Saul Zaentz's company.
He reckons UHD releases are going to come eventually.

The Frisco Kid (1979) not to be confused with Frisco Kid, Cagney (1935)yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 12:34 pm'Adventures of Don Juan' and 'The Frisco Kid' are going to be released in July.
edit: this seems to be it for this month. Meh. Feltenstein has said the second half of the year the output will be great. I hope so because so far 2022 has been pedestrian at best

If anyone owns the The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm Blu-ray, what are the optional subtitles like? Capital font, yellow etc.

Normal - white font, sentence case as appropriate. WAC has long dropped having all caps and only use yellow titles on their black and white films (for whatever reason!)

I fail to see what's bad here. Ballistics: Ecks vs Sever is the absolute pinnacle of action films.
I'm also sure that they are fake since the covers use the old WAC banner.

Also, I'm pretty sure all the Ace Ventura movies (including Jr.) were Morgan Creek productions and are now distributed by Sony, not WB anymore.yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 9:40 amI'm also sure that they are fake since the covers use the old WAC banner.

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
I just watched The Thin Man. Wow!!! You would never ever expect this film to look as good as it does. It’s amazing what WAC was able to do with very poor source material. One of the pq visual highlights was Nick and Nora’s first bedroom scene before Morelli paid them a visit. looks so damn impressive! To bad they didn’t put an ‘about the restoration’ short on the disc.

improbably, King Kong (1933) is getting a reissue too. that's a really big surprise as many (myself included) figured it would go Criterion

Rachel, Rachel has some stylistic crutches but man Woodward is so good in it. I'm also never not amazed that it was a huge blockbuster hit with audiences (second only to the Green Berets for WB)

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
I love Paul Newman’s work as a director and Rachel, Rachel was my introduction to that world. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen it, but like Donino said, Woodward is an incredible actress and truly makes this movie what it is. Really looking forward to its upgrade.

This isn't a surprise to me. I don't think you will see an improvement on this. The source material or the lack there of makes this very difficult. I think the one to keep an eye on for CC is Casablancaryannichols7 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 5:05 pmimprobably, King Kong (1933) is getting a reissue too. that's a really big surprise as many (myself included) figured it would go Criterion
Rachel, Rachel is a terrific surprise. As domino and The Elegant Dandy Fop said, Joanne Woodward is outstanding
Abe Lincoln in Illinois is the weakest of all the Lincoln films to come out during that era

Re: Warner Brothers Archive Collection Blu-rays
not so much an improvement on pic quality as we would've on extras. Criterion's laserdisc commentary is still unfortunately in limbo, I do sincerely hope it gets rescued. I definitely lean towards Casablanca coming in November as well, but also wouldn't be surprised if WB keep itFrauBlucher wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 6:47 pmThis isn't a surprise to me. I think the next really big hope for WAC is going to be for Freaks to come alongside the 1931 Jekyll and Hyde in October. I know Freaks has long been a wishlist title but with it being on HBO Max now in pretty good quality, and with an older WAC DVD that had pretty good extras, I feel like this is a reasonable time to wish for it. I know its been a rumored Criterion since the beginning of the Warner deal in 2013, but this is one where WAC's treatment of the film/extras are solid, so we're just looking at a presentation bump
