I really really like the Bear Trap analogy. Very apt.

Not to get too off topic, but do you guys generally feel this is the worst Eclipse set (and let's not count sets where you're hurt by an omission)?

yes, of the 37 eclipse sets I've seen this is easily the worst. Robert Downey sr and matarazzo are the other bottom of the barrel sets, and they are not that bad by comparison.aox wrote:Not to get too off topic, but do you guys generally feel this is the worst Eclipse set (and let's not count sets where you're hurt by an omission)?

This is the worst thing Criterion has ever released, and this statement will hold true even if they unleash the plague

Yeah, it would be hard for them to top this since it has the deadly combination of badness and incompetence which just leaves one unable to offer a silver lining. There's been worse films made, but collectively none have also gathered this lack of something to engage with. By comparison, going off of its thread, at least the Arrow American Horror set delivers on some nice contextual things which make it better then the sum of its parts.

Actually, one has excruciatingly bad films, and the other has good films that were ruined by incompetent, inept revisionism, right?
I'm not sure which is worse.

Boy, domino's aspersion of the plague has not aged well
