Dear XXX,

Everything is fine. I just wanted to let you know I have nothing to announce at this time. Rest assured, I will immediately announce to you any announcements or intentions to announce to you any announcements, or any intentions to announce to announce, etc. If it has been more than five seconds since you received this email and you have not yet received another, please do not be alarmed. I was just finding out if there were any more announcements for you. You should be finding out if I found any more announcements for you any moment now. I hope this helps!

I love you,
Jon Mulvaney
This is just hilarious and so perfectly suited to the arguments in this thread. Maybe we should start a Fake Mulvaney Letter thread.

And now to get totally off topic, your fake letter reminded me of the security guard's impersonation of Barbara Stanwyck in The Long Goodbye:
I don't understand. I don't understand it at all. I've never understood it, Walter. I just don't understand why I don't understand it all.

This is the first month since January's titles that I've felt excited about Criterion again. Oh Criterion, we fight and fight but you still always win me back

I think you're looking for this thread. This here is the "Why won't they announce what I want when I want them to announce it?" thread.

The short answer is 'yes.' For all anyone knows, we might not see any new titles up on the Criterion's site until we wake up tomorrow morning. I've also seen 'em posted around 7pm or 8pm EST.

It also isn't unheard of (although it has been a little while) that announcements are made at the end of the week when the 15th lands somewhere in the middle. Not that I'd necessarily expect that, but it always irks me to see the "Are they going out of business?" questions when the 16th rolls around and nothing has been announced yet.

If they announced them right this minute, they'd actually be early. They have an annoying habit of waiting until I've just left work.

Lately they havent done them exactly on the 15th it has sometimes been on Thursday or Friday as they probably need more time to put shit together.

Okay, my snide reference to CC fans being like crackheads has just become downright weird.

How is this constructive in answering my question or adding anything to the topic. Seems like a cheap attempt at a joke about a medical condition I am sure you are unqualified to give. I asked this question this afternoon on a day that is generally considered to be an announcement for a company with which this message board is dedicated to. I didn't ask it at 1:30am and then again 8 times through the day; I have not asked it since.

Of course, if your joke was even somewhat funny or even borderline original, it wouldn't bother me. Please try harder next time.

When I first started writing here I was startled at the responses people gave. I always treat any form of written communication as a letter and not conversation, and that remains true in my emails to friends and posts here. I have since had to learn that I can simply not let any response startle or upset me.

I will say that I have noticed godardslave's previous posts. I have never been struck with a feeling that (s)he is being cruel. I must say that it took me quite a while to catch on to what is a joke and what is just plain cruel, however I immediately thought godadslave was just offering an almost generic answer that could apply to almost all of us here. Many of us are CC obsessed to a point that other's would find quite ridiculous.

I only really enter this conversation because I wrote a rather long piece in the "Fake Covers" thread (where evidently it is practically verboten to even write more that a two word not-too-pithy comment regarding a cover) and was yet again mostly ignored. When a comment was made, it was basically telling me to fuck off. It doesn't bother me anymore because I will continue to write more that one sentence posts and not expect any feedback at all. I enjoy writing and at least one of the positive attributes of this site is that it is a great training ground to learn to get and toughen a hard shell in response to the cruel, cruel public!

I can take the pithy comments; the cruel jokes; being the target of a vitriolically caustic lack of regard propelled by a shameless sense of anonymity; I can take the childish immaturity exposing an ineptitude of human compassion and empathy.

It was the shallow scorn: the callous disrespectful affront to Comedy, that offended me so.

But thank you for your kind words and sage advice. :D

Now... where is December's damned release schedule.
