Sony does have Va Savior, but not Va Savior+, which--like L'amour fou--is not with anyone at the moment.soundchaser wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:55 amThey’ve got Marie and Julien, but I think Va Savoir is still with Sony.

Looking back, the original Cohen announcement was for 10 features. If they don't have Va Savoir then they must have Divertimento - but I would have thought that they would have released this with / at the same time as La Belle Noiseuse.

Maybe it already was but it's totally possible that Jeanne la pucelle was counted as 2 features
Edit: it was counted as two and they do have Divertimento: https://www.indiewire.com/2016/10/cohen ... 201736324/

Re: Cohen Film Collection
I emailed them about Divertimento a few years ago, and they said it was in need of a restoration so they opted to release La Belle Noiseuse without it.

Re: Cohen Film Collection
JSC -- Thanks. I wonder when this will be released. In terms of overall look, it doesn't seem all that different from the long-ago DVD. Given how many "restored" films of that era look awful colorwise in their new versions, I guess this is a good thing.

Amazon was taking preorders for White As Snow and Who You Think I Am for a few days; now the prices and links for both are gone. Anybody know why? I hope when they come back they're lower than $29.95 each...

Don't know amazon's prices, but kino is the distributing these now, so these could end up in a kino sale for reasonable prices. One thing with some of the older titles is that when kino has reprinted them (assuming it's them that does the reprinting), they no longer have booklets. I don't know whether these new releases come with booklets at all.

Which older titles? For what it's worth, I bought Under the Sun of Satan and La Belle Noiseuse from Kino's website during one of the recent sales and they both came with booklets, and those aren't exactly "new"

Re: Cohen Film Collection
Just did a search over at blu-ray.com of their kino thread to refresh my memory: Sudden, Fear Hangmen Don't Die! and Intolerance were mentioned... And in the june swoon sale thread Hail Mary was also mentioned. I imagine there is still old stock floating around for a lot of the other titles, but my recollection was that if kino insider said for any reprints there would be no booklet. I also see a mention of no booklet for Buster Keaton vol 4.
Found the relevant quote from KL Support (not quite what I remember):
Found the relevant quote from KL Support (not quite what I remember):
One guy mentioned that in place of some of the missing booklets was a 4-page advert from kino. Some of titles were reprinted and we were not made aware of changes. We are updating product pages accordingly for Cohen titles w no booklets. Contact customer support if you're truly unhappy, but there's nothing further we can offer for booklets, etc. Hopefully these sale prices will offset the issue and the quality of the release itself will suffice.

I checked Kino's site--they have both up for preorder at $17.97 each--much better!fdm wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:52 pmDon't know amazon's prices, but kino is the distributing these now, so these could end up in a kino sale for reasonable prices. And potentially even better when kino has one of their bigger sales, if you want to wait a while.

I didn’t see it mentioned here but Cohen just put out a Jacques Deray double feature of Delon films, Le gang and Trois hommes à abattre

...and Trois hommes à abattre is watchable but so, so dumb. Like, I have never seen dumber hitmen in my life. These dudes try to off Delon by dunking him under water in the middle of a crowded beach. I'm talking surrounded by fifty witnesses-- not on the beach, but in the water with them, as in right next to, behind, and on all sides of them. They also early on leave a witness alive for no reason even though the film later gets its pathetic jollies by offing literally every tertiary character as a way of showing how ruthless the conspiracy is. This total coy nihilism may have been amusing if there was a single braincell between all of the characters to buy it as anything but one more futile gesture on the part of filmmakers who have no clue how to make a movie like this, but that's a big no as is. There should be a law against this dumb French conspiracy movie getting a stateside release when the smart I... comme Icare from the same era languishes without an English-friendly releasedomino harvey wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 12:57 amI didn’t see it mentioned here but Cohen just put out a Jacques Deray double feature of Delon films, Le gang and Trois hommes à abattre

These are mostly Pathé releases in France and yeah, Trois hommes à abattre definitely was one of the dumbest of the bunch.

...and of course I just blind-bought that double-feature for $12.49 in the Kino Roctober sale happening now. Oh well. As long as it's less dumb than Diabolically Yours.

If it makes you feel better, had I delayed my last Kino order to now, I would've saved $29 + taxes.

On the Yard is really fantastic news. The novel it's based on was republished for the first time in decades by the New York Review of Books' publishing arm not too long ago as well. It's interesting to note that John Heard was directed in separate feature films by a married couple (Joan Micklin and Raphael Silver).
I really hope some of the more neglected Merchant Ivory titles like In Custody are on the docket as well.

I regret to proclaim that the other half of the Delon/Deray double feature, Le gang, is to gangster movies what Delon's wig is to cool hairstyles

I don't remember if it got a US BD release but you should definitely had a look at Le toubib.
