Re: Scorpion Releasing
Unless you speak Italian, that track is kind of worthless as it only has dubtitles. Which to me is the biggest disappointment with the set.

Re: Scorpion Releasing
The dubtitles are another mark against the LE but the voice acting in the English dub(s) is abysmal so I think there is value in the Italian track for the better sounding performances (at least from a non-Italian speaking perspective).

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Ronin is doing the 35% off when you spend $50 on select titles again, and the Opera limited edition is part of the sale. (amusingly/annoyingly it is $49.99, so you have to get something else to get the discount.)

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Yep. Still unsure if to get the LE but there are two other titles I kinda want so choosing to pick one to add with Opera will give me a shipped total of $50 which I feel much more comfortable with than paying that much on Opera alone. Will probably pull the trigger later tonight.dwk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 8:25 pmRonin is doing the 35% off when you spend $50 on select titles again, and the Opera limited edition is part of the sale. According to Mondo Digital, The Card Player is superior to the German Blu-ray, due to fresh scan, better colours and all scenes being in HD. Count me in!

Just watched The Church. So good to finally view with Italian audio. The transfer really does justice to this heavy, dripping gothic atmosphere. First time I really started to notice some of the subtleties in terms of recurring motifs and images. Very happy with this and have already ordered The Sect. And will do the same with Card Player and Sleepless.

As of right now, Ronin Flix is down to the last 44 copies of the 3-disc Opera. It is currently part of a sale (save an extra 35% when you spend $50 on select titles, and of course the Opera disc is $49.99)

The old German Blu of Sleepless was very good. Mondo Digital said this one is a bit better. Blu-ray.com liked the Scorpion, and awarded it a 4.5/5 for PQ.

I can’t be the only one stoked for Clifford, right? Might be the comedy release of 2020 for me.

If Clifford doesn’t have a Scharpling and Wurster commentary, it will be the missed opportunity of the year

Re: Scorpion Releasing
Count me in on the Clifford love train. Martin Short has a great anecdote in his autobiography of how Nicolas Cage stopped him in
an airplane to tell him that he watched that film so many times that he destroyed his VHS player.
I saw Nic Roeg's Cold Heaven at a retrospective shortly after his passing. It's an admirable work, and like the far more successful
The Rapture, it's very sincere in trying to explore how religious phenomenology can be processed in the modern age, but the story
just doesn't really gel, and I'm not especially fond of Mark Harmon.

With Wurster playing a whole round table of characters Tom has to watch the movie with, oh man...domino harvey wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 9:42 pmIf Clifford doesn’t have a Scharpling and Wurster commentary, it will be the missed opportunity of the year
If Scorpion doesn't approach them, they could still make a commentary track and put it on the Best Show Patreon. I'm sure people are bugging them about it already, haha
