Btw, the extras nominated by TWBB (Tremors) and swo (The Deeper You Dig) appear to have come out in 2020.
Hmm was Tremors released in Dec 2020 or pushed back a few weeks into 2021? I’m finding conflicting info online

Users on bluray.com seem to have received it mid December

Apparently, I also thought it had been pushed into 2021, when Tenia nominated it in last year's thread

Looking for extras worthy of nomination, I noticed that not just the McBride commentaries, but also Tag Gallagher's video essays were included in Kino's 2020 release of Straight Shooting and Hell Bent, and the transfers seem to be identical, so I guess I won't be voting for that Eureka package as the best overall release, although they're nice to have in one case. Tag's stuff seemed even lighter than usual, anyway, or maybe it's just diminishing returns for me, personally.

Btw, the extras nominated by TWBB (Tremors) and swo (The Deeper You Dig) appear to have come out in 2020.
Good catches. Would you like to rescind your seconding of Straight Shooting/Hell Bent, which would make it ineligible unless someone seconds it again?

Awesome, I ordered from DD, not VG- will the packaging be different for the non-LE VG exclusive? I have no experience ordering from these labels/sublabels (aside from Fun City)

I've bought a VS title from Amazon and a Fun City title from DD, both soon after release, and they both came without LE packaging

In this case, does that mean Her Smell would come without all this fun stuff? I thought I was just forgoing a slipcover!

I would guess you'll just get this, which is inside the slipcover inside the rigid slipcase:

Well, I greatly appreciate the info- I'm canceling my DD order and trying direct from VG. Oh, and I'll second that packaging nominee as well, obviously

Assuming you are referring to the guy's arm, that's an image from VS's website. My skin is as grotesquely white as the wall in the background

I'll second Adoption, and as a reminder there is just a little over a week left to submit nominations and seconds before voting starts. I hope we can get some more eligible titles for late discoveries, on-disc extras, and booklets

I may be the only person to nominate them so I want to mention the sterling work of Unearthed Films in 2021 with their editions of A Serbian Film and the utterly insane Evil Dead Trap. Evil Dead Trap also ports forward all the extras from the original 2001 Synapse DVD release (including that awkward and stilted commentary in English by the (now long deceased) director and his SFX technician) along with a number of new extras. I do really like the cover to Evil Dead Trap too:

(I have my fingers crossed that Unearthed might tackle the even better Evil Dead Trap 2: Hideki next, given that they released the US DVD of it originally back in 2005)

I get it. I don’t want or need every title they release, but what they do release is simply spectacular, and probably the best version of that film it will ever receive.

They’ve been working on a special edition of David Twohy’s Timescape for years. I genuinely can’t wait for that one!

After picking up a number of their releases in the early 2000s (including the Guinea Pig films, Boy Meets Girl, the Nacho Cerdà collection and the astonishing Shozin Fukui films. And I still treasure my DVD edition of Rock & Rule!) I tapped out of Unearthed Films for a while there when the quality of the films released got rather low and started to veer into that territory where extreme horror starts to meet and co-mingle with the fringes of fetish porn (though that made them the perfect fit for a distribution company who would immediately 'get' A Serbian Film and be able to do it full justice! Apparently they are working on a feature length making of documentary on the film to be released at some point too), and I just wasn't sure that it was something to particularly be completist about especially when I could focus on the more enticing prospect of trying to pick up all the Hong Sang-soo filmography on disc instead!

But they won me back in 2020 after I picked up their releases of A Record of Sweet Murder by the underrated filmmaker Koji Shiraishi and their edition of The Untold Story, and it is nice to see them moving into older films too in their "Classics" line with The Dark Side Of The Moon, which was a title I constantly used to see lurking on the shelves of my local cornershop's video rental section during the early 1990s but had never seen before!

Plus Evil Dead Trap, whilst goofy and not particularly logical (more dream logical), is kind of nostalgic to me since I've had the original Synapse DVD on my shelf for over twenty years now. It also makes for a great companion piece to the Takashi Ishii film Angel Guts: Red Vertigo (the fifth in that series, with an early role for Naoto Takenaka!) which was filmed the same year as Evil Dead Trap (Ishii wrote the screenplay for Evil Dead Trap, and was the creator of the original Angel Guts manga with that fifth film entry in the series the first he got to direct) and shares the same abandoned American Air Force base location that gets put to a very different (but just as transgressive) use!

I don't think I can in good conscience second the Sailor Suit & Machine Gun booklet that on the first page names the film's director as Yasuzo Masumura. I will, however, second the deleted scenes with Joe Dante commentary on Explorers and the "Extremities" video essay on Hands of Orlac for best on-disc extras
