All this is nice fantasizing, but Icarus still has the rights to several films.

Sadly, this also squashes my hopes of seeing a release of Toute une nuit any time soon, which I don't think has ever had a disc release anywhere to my knowledge. Surely for all the films included, this should be a 4 disc set.
Gotta assume a vol 2 and vol 3 box set aren't too far off. A great deal of her work is available on the dark web restored and in 1080p including Toute une nuit, and some of it is streaming on Criterion Channel.
I’ve also noticed a 1080p Blu-ray source for Les Rendez-vous d’Anna on the dark web, but to my knowledge it hasn’t received a commercial Blu-ray release anywhere prior to this set unless there’s something I’m unaware of.

I’m not really sure what you’re getting at here. Anyhow, I didn’t download it. I just know it’s available in said form. Perhaps it was released on Blu-ray in Japan or something…?

Yeah, there's a Japanese blu-ray but the color timing is way off so I wouldn't bother with it.

It's just that "the dark web" is a funny way of describing film torrent sites. I guess the distinction, if one were to attempt to make a serious one, is that these sites are on the "open" (i.e. not "dark") internet and generally accessible through regular internet search engines, as opposed to being buried within underground criminal networks. Perhaps film studio bosses might not see (or appreciate) the difference, but it's there!

He's just making a joke and it's the funniest fucking thing I've ever read on this website. (And we aren't even the best of friends.)

I would just like to say, on the wide open web, and as someone who has not recently hired a hit man on Tor, that I also do not know what the dark web is or understand domino's joke in the slightest

Combine furbicide's explanation of dark vs open web... with the personality/cultural differences between drug traffickers/hitmen/etc and slow cinema/etc/art-house fans... and voila!

You may need to hire more than one if you want to take down Tor.

If we are to believe the famous and often-repeated quote "Touch a button. Things happen. A scientist becomes a beast.", then it's clear that you'd need more than a beekeeper, the Wolf Man, and a mad scientist to stop Tor. Bombs have mixed results as do bullets but as with most things, the police are your best bet for stopping Tor, if you ask me, I think they're guns are radioactively charged through special gunpowder authorized by the military industrial complex, but that's merely subjective.

Joseph Javorsky... noted scientist
Flag on the moon... how'd it get there?
Caught in the wheels of progress...

The next box set coming from Criterion will be... Coleman Francis: Masterpieces 1961-1966

Finally. Wanted somebody to release... Red Zone Cuba (DRAMATIC WALKING STING INTENSIFIES).
Who can suppose the beautiful... often quoted... and deeply... tragic lines such as
"Suppose you were a flower contrasting your gay colors with the blue sky."
Truly poetic

Not to mention that wonderful...muddy photography (obviously shot during a very
long solar eclipse). And a great song from...John Carradine!

While we're on the subject of John Carradine and music, I genuinely think that the piano sequence in House of Dracula is one of the best and most subtle moments in any of the Dracula films, the Browning film included. The scene starting off with Miliza Morelle innocent and pure, playing a tune on the piano, but as she gazes into Dracula eyes, the music shiftly changes marked by an ominously performed exchange, "I never heard this music before, yet I'm playing it." "You're creating it.", before Morelle takes out a cross and as Dracula loses his control, the music shifts back to it's original tune. It's a quick scene but it's a solid scene that gives so much information without stretching it too far.

Wow, those screencaps from Les rendez-vous d’Anna look stunning, what a difference proper restoration and color correction make, especially with a visual style like Akerman's.

Even News From Home is a marked improvement, you can now see that the guy in the diner has the choice between spaghetti bolognese & a lamb roast.

Saw a few screencaps of these. No surprises : the non Dielmann discs are over-filled, AVBs are around 20 Mbps, and the encodes are typical crap Pixelogic LEGO-vision.

That sucks...I guess I'll hold on to my Dielmann and see if someone else releases the rest of the restorations. Surely there must be a UK or EU label who will do that.
