Well if the DVD image quality ain't great, then I will be holding off for the Blu-Ray, even though seeing the trailer again before the feature on other recent DVDs has gotten me giddy again. I love that damn trailer.

Has anyone received their copy?

The Amazon package shot shows the original one-sheet as a slipcover. The picture of the packaging in the Beaver review does not include it. (Then again, the review copy seems to be a German release.)

Pix of the 1 and 2 disc sets, both of which are held in paper slits, the Bible cover is the digipak, the cover is the slipcover.

Annoying we have to wait for the hi-def release which also probably won't look anywhere near as good as the DVD packaging. Packaging for new formats always seems to be a step down from the previous "inferior" format i.e great album sleeves replaced by much smaller CD cases and now sometimes innovative DVD sleeves/cover art replaced by perfunctory Blu-Ray cases.

As the Blu-ray format becomes more popular among the masses, they'll find a way to distinguish specific releases with special packaging.

We got our copies of the one-disc version in at the store, and here's a note to anybody who's anal about the condition of their discs: the ink on the top of the DVDs will pick up any oil on your skin. Our copies are already scratched up as well due to the packaging, so you might want to open it before you leave the store.

It's the Canadian release, with bilingual French/English on the packaging

I prefer the German disc artwork. Sure, the packaging won't be fancy but apparently the packaging for the DVD sucks so no big loss.

As stupid as this packaging is, my two-disc set arrived safely from Amazon via UPS, in a bubble mailer no less. I pity anyone who ordered this via media mail from DVDPlanet et al though.

The DVD packaging looks like some sort of turn of the century [edit: old leather bound bible] dug up and brushed off, so probably an "aesthetic" choice on the part of the designer. The DVD picture quality is very good and would have a lot of people drooling if they hadn't seen what hi-definition can deliver.

The Digital Bits is reporting June 3rd from Paramount's press release.

Oh, I wouldn't say that..

Taken from High-Def Digest. It's hard to believe someone got paid for putting that together.

There's only one word that can be used to describe that. But I'm trying to cut down on my cursing here.

Well, I'd use a slightly less offensive curse word to describe that one.

What is wrong with the bible cover? Don't they think people will covet their blu-rays just as much as their dvds? Then again, it's not a tissue paper case cover, either...
