It's only Beaver's caps but the new 4K looks fucking horrible. Blue, blue blue, red., pink blue. VIle. 60s Eastman never looked like this shit.

I received the new MoC edition on Wednesday, and have watched it already. I don’t know the film well, so don’t crucify me for saying this, but I actually thought the colours looked very good.

Beaver seems to have gone for a lot of caps from the day-for-night scenes, which may account for your perception that it looks too blue. The overall film didn’t look that way to me. The colourful outfits of the asylum residents appeared fine, to me, in the daytime scenes.

Thx for your report. I looked further afield and better and more demonstrative caps support what you say but there is omnipresent through it a too high white level which looks like what Tenia calls Ritrovato blue LUT setting. All whites are pushed way over 6500 ire to blue end. It loks like another ritrovato fuckup for Cohen but I had thought the resto was performed by TechnicolorFotokenm who are normally reliable. The blue push woso seems to strip out gamma.

Should have added above the notification that Pierre L'Homme "supervised" this 4K should serve as warning to us all of the total unreliability of these kinds of pronouncements where a project is simply up and running whether with or without its own colorist, let alone some faux QC adviser in the driver's seat. No self repsecting colorist or Tech producer could have tolerated the bias in this setting. THe other big fuckup Technicolor is repsonisble for alrhough it might not have been their fault was the Matthieu Demy botch job on Lola of course. These are all very expensive processes which are very very unlikely to be undertaken again to correct somebody's fucking ego.
