How many minutes until this becomes the new logo for the forum (or at least someone's avatar):
Answer: 8.
Oh, here's the biggest laff... the men's shirt's only go up to a size L and they're American Apparel which means that the L is really a M which means that the only people who would buy a Criterion shirt can't fit into it. Fatties must get Janus shirts (which are cooler and cheaper anyway).

I guess you're right. As a quickly aging and expanding consumer who supported Criterion's ass back in the laserdisc days, I should feel no resentment that they now think they're a skateboard company.domino harvey wrote:Criterions new core market is skinny indie kids such as myself, so this makes perfect sense.
Oh, listen to that. Didn't that just sound like a bitter, middle-aged divorcée who got dumped for a new hot piece of twat?

I'm thinking of the 'hardcore Criterion collectors' who will blind-buy everything the company releases, and get more pleasure from the thought of arranging the disc spines on their shelves than they do from watching the actual films.
That's a caricature, but there certainly seem to be people like that around.

Actually, you might characterize this as anti-consumerist. If you think of collecting in the Benjaminian sense of redeeming the commodity by removing its use-value and thereby appreciating it as object, then you've made several steps away from the consumerist cycle you describe.Gropius wrote:I'm thinking of the 'hardcore Criterion collectors' who will blind-buy everything the company releases, and get more pleasure from the thought of arranging the disc spines on their shelves than they do from watching the actual films.

Personally, I like lining things up and looking at them. I used to do it with my Star Wars figures when I was 7, now I do it with books and DVDs.

I guess there wasn't enough money in the budget to iron the shirts first.
