I thought The Wrestler was his best work.

It's a great take on the "this is fine" meme.

I'll be seeing this if it comes here. Looks like it the film will sink or swim on whatever is really "going on" here. Not that I doubt Aronofsky but we all know what happens with a bad reveal.

Re: mother! (Darren Aronofsky, 2017)
Not as...upfront as the first one we saw (Although a drawing of JLaw with her removed heart is rather hard to top). But I don't think
Aside however there's been some debate on just why Lawrence's character is married to the much older Bardem. Perhaps it's just me catching wind of some very cranky internet people but I thought I'd bring it up. It doesn't bother me but I thought I'd pass the message along that that this fact may come up in future comments/reviews.
You're more than welcome to come but I'm sure it would be comical downgrade from wherever you reside. I'm hoping that Aronofsky's name is enough to get it here.mfunk9786 wrote:I’m going to Montana to see that.

Re: mother! (Darren Aronofsky, 2017)
Javier Bardem is the exact same age as Aronofsky (they're no more than 3 or 4 weeks apart), and Lawrence is dating Aronofsky ... so there's something. I also think there must be something about Lawrence that makes some directors put her in roles that she's somewhat young for (like all three of her roles for David O. Russell, for instance).Big Ben wrote:Aside however there's been some debate on just why Lawrence's character is married to the much older Bardem.

I hadn't realised until seeing the trailer (though should have guessed from the title) that it seems to be going into Rosemary's Baby territory! But I am amusing myself by wondering whether this might mean that Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris are this film's equivalent of the Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer nefarious older couple! And could Javier Bardem be the John Cassavetes of this film?

How can they possibly either ship or hand deliver something like that and have it arrive looking that good? Witchcraft.

I'm certain it was couriered, and probably driven three hours directly to do so. Hell, I'd do it for $100 and expenses, not much for the publicity of him sharing it on his social media, which is the point

To add to the hilarity, an online colleague - through the Facebook group "The Criterion Gyre" - works at one of the theatres in [strike]NY[/strike]. Apparently, Darren rented out one of them just so he could have a private screening with Jennifer Lawrence.
Get your barf bags, er I mean, popcorn bags ready!
Correction: It's in LA.

It's not as funny when they don't use the same color as the Rosemary's Baby poster

Re: mother! (Darren Aronofsky, 2017)
People have now seen this and word on the street is the third act is wildly, massively divisive. Like, Lars Von Trier-levels

Re: mother! (Darren Aronofsky, 2017)
It received an "18" certificate from the BBFC for violence so I imagine it'll be rather upsetting. This is the same ratings board that gave Hacksaw Ridge a "15" so take that as you will. I don't think Aronofsky has the gall that von Trier has though. That isn't a slight against him either it's just very few people are as ridiculous as von Trier.

Now I want to see that poster with the End of Evangelion color-scheme.
