Looked really great, definitely in true HD, and in the 1.78 aspect ratio. Does this film have a good DVD release anywhere? There always seems to be a Wilder film I didn't know about that I have to see!
I think it's the worst film in its TCM set, and I like it a lot! Mogambo and Splendor in the Grass are two of my favourites from their directors, and Now, Voyager features what more and more I think might be the Bette Davis performance in its vivid exhibiting of her various modes (and none of the films are on Blu)

This looks like fun. A theme on TCM this month is "Condemned Movies," films that were condemned by the Catholic Legion of Decency. Some choice titles include The Story of Temple Drake, Lemora - A Child's Tale of the Supernatural, Baby Doll, and um ... Ice Castles(!?).

Baby Doll is of course the go-to for this theme. I always introduce it to my students with the warning that according to the Church, we'll all be going to Hell just for watching it-- always gets a great reaction!

I find Baby Doll is still quite edgy, even today.

Aside from the more famous transgressions, the aunt Rose comfort and the peephole/crib in the bedroom thing gives me a John Waters feeling about that house.

TCM's promo for this is pretty great, too.

TCM is devoting November to documentary film-making, much of which released by Criterion, titled To Tell the Truth.

Happened to catch By Sidney Lumet playing under the American Masters banner on PBS, would imagine it'll repeat a few times, check your local listings.

Edit : Also see they're airing In Jackson Heights tonight.

Wenders' absolutely amazing Until the End of the World (which was restored as part of Janus' tour, and released on BD in France (now OOP), but isn't on Filmstruck or anything) will be airing in full early on July 24th (the TCM website lists a 3 hour running time, but it's scheduled for a full five-hour block). Pretty likely to be released by Criterion soon-ish as I think it's the last Wenders title they're sitting on at the moment but should be of interest to some.

They should release Land of Plenty and get me to do the commentary-- I might without ego be its biggest fan

Well, this thread doesn't get much life in it. It would at least be nice if people posted some of the rarities or interesting finds they come across and warn us so we can record them.

TCM is in the middle of their "Summer Under the Stars" month, which usually precludes most interesting things -but I did find a few:

WEDNESDAY, August 15 (Peter Finch day)
The Shiralee (1957) - Was particularly difficult to track down before the Ealing Studio Rarities DVD series

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30 (Marcello Mastroianni day)
Ginger and Fred (1986)
Family Portrait (1962)
The Pizza Triangle (1970) - what a title

Also glad to see that SYFY is playing a million different variations of shitty shark movies:
Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda
Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf
Trailer Park Shark
Jersey Shore Shark Attack

Looking over TCM's November schedule, I took note of some rarely shown (on U.S. TV) movies and special events (all times are Central Time Zone):

An evening of films from Kino's Pioneers: First Women Filmmakers (including works by Alice Guy-Blache, Lois Weber, and Mabel Normand)

Saturday, November 3 (early Sunday morning)
Valmont at 1:00 am

Sunday, November 4 (early Monday morning)
Eisenstein Double Feature of Alexander Nevsky & October at 1:00 am

Thursday, November 8
More films from Pioneers: First Women Filmmakers

Friday, November 16 (early Saturday morning)
The slasher movie Eyes of a Stranger at 3:00 am

Sunday, November 18 (early Monday Morning)
Imamura's Profound Desire of the Gods at 1:15 am

Tuesday, November 20 (early Wednesday morning)
Secrets & Lies at 1:30 am

Friday, November 23 (early Saturday morning)
Double Feature for Masochists of Mac and Me and The Garbage Pail Kids Movie at 1:00 am/2:45 am

Friday November 30 (early Saturday morning)
Sarah Jacobson Double Feature of Mary Jane’s Not a Virgin Anymore and her short film I Was a Teenage Serial Killer at 1:00 am

I think Mac and Me might be timely because people found out about its alternate 'cop shoots disabled kid' scene

Granted, these WTF choices are all part of their TCM Underground segment on Friday nights, which has been shifting to more and more contemporary choices over the last few months. There's something to be said for a network that will show The Garbage Pail Kids Movie back to back with Borzage's The Mortal Storm!
