Ben Affleck is acting in a Malick movie, which means hell must have officially frozen over.

Look at it this way, he won't talk as much as he usually does.

Re: The Tree of Life (Terrence Malick, 2010)
After Richard Gere and Colin Farrell, why are people still complaining about Malick's use of questionable actors?

We can assume Affleck will be in his 60s when the film is finally shot and released, yes? So he has time to hone his craft.

Whatever the status of Tree of Life may be, it appears Malick's new film has begun production.

Re: Untitled Terrence Malick Film (Terrence Malick, Eventual
There seems to be, already, more factual info leaking about this project than about Tree of Life. And the local press in OK don't seem to shy about publicizing it (just one of many recent examples).
On location
my experience in bartlesville
Untitled film starring Ben Affleck shot in downtown Pawhuska
Many pics (several of Malick -- jeez but that dude rocks the Hawaiian shirts) at the link, long article, this probably won't be released until BluRay is superceded by the next format

Allegedly titled The Burial
And now IMDB are calling it by that title.
Time for a thread title change?

Re: The Burial (Terrence Malick, Eventually)
Terrence Malick BLOGfirst off - the film is NOT titled The Burial
That being said, it does have more to do with Javier Burdem's priest character, his conflict with his faith and his love for a female lead.

Gere was acceptable in Days Of Heaven, but Farrell in The New World, disastrous.Cold Bishop wrote:After Richard Gere and Colin Farrell, why are people still complaining about Malick's use of questionable actors?

But if Hong Kong has taught us anything, it's that ghosts can be vampires too. Hope still remains.

New (or first?) photo, not much to speak of really. Affleck looks dim and douchey as always; I have no idea who any of the females in this film are, never heard of any of them.

Maybe (hopefully?) Affleck will only be in the film for about 15 minutes, much like Penn in Tree of Life.

You've never heard of Rachel McAdams?MyNameCriterionForum wrote:New (or first?) photo, not much to speak of really. Affleck looks dim and douchey as always; I have no idea who any of the females in this film are, never heard of any of them.

That is a weird usage of 'female' (instead of, say, 'women') that seems to pop up. Is there any particular intentionality behind that? I mean, we're clear that they're all female humans, and not say gibbons, right?

Re: The Burial (Terrence Malick, 2012)
Was a joke anyway, right? I mean, if nothing else, besides McAdams and Weisz he must have heard of Jessica Chastain, who starred in the last Malick movie.
What the point of the joke was, I couldn't say, but the statement makes no sense at face value so something must be up.

Sorry, no, not until she was announced for this film.mfunk9786 wrote:You've never heard of Rachel McAdams?MyNameCriterionForum wrote:I have no idea who any of the females in this film are, never heard of any of them.
"intentionality"? "intention" didn't suffice? Do you write artists statements for a living? Are you calling me a misogynist?matrixschmatrix wrote:That is a weird usage of 'female' (instead of, say, 'women') that seems to pop up. Is there any particular intentionality behind that? At the time, I don't believe Chastain was officially announced for the film. As for my statement, it was true. Is there some reason you think I'm lying? Is "something up"?Brian C wrote:Was a joke anyway, right? I mean, if nothing else, besides McAdams and Weisz he must have heard of Jessica Chastain, who starred in the last Malick movie.
