Wow, was Allen ever this in demand before? Even in his oscar days I don't think people were fighting over him.

Re: Woody Allen
I am amazed that the settlement agreement allowed Allen to immediately go outside and tell the press that it was for $5 million.

Re: Woody Allen
Woody is kind of scuddy…. He married a 12 year old and sues an American business for using his “image†without his permission. And gets $5 MILLION? Goes anybody else see how this is the reason American business is in decline? Beyond decline … we don’t have a prayer. What are we going to start manufacturing next, toys for Chinese kids to get in their Happy Meals…. ooops, I dont have McDonalds permissin to say that. …. Hey WoodHead, can you email me the name of a good lawyer.

Re: Woody Allen
Ah. I didn't realize we were talking about grosses—thought it was how much Woody himself made. But considering that those four films probably cost as much or less to make and advertise than one big blockbuster, $250 mil is still a nice figure.AWA wrote:That is approximately how much his films made at the worldwide box office alone in the past four years, yes. Match Point did $90m, Scoop $40m, Cassandra's Dream $25m and VCB did over $90m (and still rising). This doesn't include any kind of estimate on DVD sales of new and older titles, how much he makes touring Europe with his band in December and January and his real estate investments.nsps wrote:Perhaps the figure refers to money made from ALL his films during four years, not the films FROM the last four years? I could see him still receiving due royalties for DVDs, TV broadcasts, etc.
He's probably not worth $250m but the fact that AA's claim that his value is decreased couldn't have come at a worse time with Woody's financial pull at, arguably, the highest it has ever been.

Considering the cost was a combined total of $60 million, it's an excellent figure!

Without his glasses, Allen can't see a damn thing. How does he manage, looking through the lens of a camera and all?

He should totally make a film about a director who loses his sight during production.Camera Obscura wrote:Without his glasses, Allen can't see a damn thing. How does he manage, looking through the lens of a camera and all?

Re: Woody Allen
Or on second thought, maybe he'll only get one great single-shot gag out of the whole production.gokinsmen wrote:He should totally make a film about a director who loses his sight during production.Camera Obscura wrote:Without his glasses, Allen can't see a damn thing. I hope you're referring to the single-shot scene where he gropes Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.

Re: Woody Allen
As all we know Bergman is so admired by Woody Allen,I would like to say <husbands&wives> is another version of Bergman's<scene from a marriage>.
The difference is "h&w"is just like a comedy film and "scene" is so serious!
Anyway, these two films are all favor my taste. Two good films about marriage. O:)

Re: Woody Allen
Not sure how accurate this is, since I spotted it on Xinhua:
Woody Allen offered $15 mln to film in Rio de Janeiro
(Xinhua 2009-10-16)
Brazilian film production company Conspiracao Filmes has offered U.S. film director Woody Allen 15 million U.S. dollars to shoot his next movie in Rio de Janeiro, local media reported Wednesday.
Another Brazilian film production company, O2, owed by the well-known director Fernando Meirelles, also expressed interest inco-producing Woody Allen’s next film.
Allen’s sister Letty Aronson and film producer Stephen Tenembaum were given a guided tour of Rio by advertising executive Claudio Loureiro who made the offer during the visit, local media reported.
Aronson said that the movie would probably cost 20 million dollars, more than the 14.9 million dollars invested in the movie "Match Point" shot in London, and the 17.5 million dollars in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" filmed in Spain.

Re: Woody Allen
MGM coming along with HD versions of their Woody films?
Could be...
If MGM's Woody catalog is getting the HD treatment for television, which would mean some kind of upgrade (and hopefully some kind of restoration or transfer from cleaner prints than the versions currently available on SD DVDs), then how far off can HD releases be?

I believe they already have quite a few based off the American MGM-HD channel. There seems to be Woody Allen film playing every week.

Looks like Allen's film after You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is set to star... Owen Wilson.

And it looks like Marion Cotillard is now the leading lady. Strange combo, but––as an unabashed Allen geek––I'm pretty curious about where this is going.

Owen Wilson? Yikes--I may have to finally skip a Woody movie.

You care about actors that much? It's not like we're talkin' Natalie Portman or Julia Roberts here. In fact, I'd call Owen Wilson a decent actor.Fiery Angel wrote:Owen Wilson? Yikes--I may have to finally skip a Woody movie.
